Once upon a time in spring, i was maintaining a willow, i had all these willowshoots, i managed to make my mom enthusiast to weave a basket with it. Then in autumn i added more, after a neighbour gave me more and then it was high and i filled it with earth, then it deformed seriously, so i banged in an acacia pole to hold it in place. Came across the plastic strawberrytowers on youtube and decided to change my creation into an organic version of one. I packed it in mud then a layer of lime/sand/loam. Which started to crack up because of frost after two winters. So today I've added a layer of clay. See how long it holds.

Oh, that's awesome, Hugo! It's beautiful. The construction approach can fit a number of applications, I would imagine. I could see it being used for an herb spiral, or for a raised bed, though the construction would need to be a little less elegant.

Quite the use of materials, too. Thanks for sharing with us.

Beautiful! The last picture: are they dry/dead? Do you water your tower?

Thank you all for the kind words. Angelika, in summer i water it, from the top , i had a pvc pipe in the earth till half way the tower to water the bottom plants, but it wasn't necessary, when watering in sessions with a few minutes interval it goes down. The plants are not dead, they'll be back in spring.
If i would make another one, in the stage of the willow weaving , i would take a split piece of firewood ,attach it temporarily on the outside and weave up around it loosely, so the firewood can be pulled out to create cup shapes. They like the spacious holes. And i would get more wood in the center ,hugel kulture style, to retain water.
