Landscaping software for permaculture

Obviously the same software can be used to design a permaculture food forest, and I was wondering if anyone knew a good free software for this purpose even if it is a top down view. Pretty much any that I seen were usually expensive. Have any of y'all stumbled upon a good opensource/free software for this?
