Looking into this, aged cheese is also a good source of probiotics. I had been wondering if my homemade blue cheese dressing would.
Between the blue cheese, sour cream, and kefir; I think it does. Just as a side note, most salad dressing recipes start with half sour cream half mayonnaise and then you add the flavors with herbs, spices, cheese... I think real sour cream is also probiotic
So it might even be a way to sneak some probiotic food into the unsuspecting. 😉
Something else that doesn't get talked about as much is the prebiotics. That is foods with high amounts of fiber that the bacteria break down. If you are eating a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables you are probably already doing this naturally. Most
root vegetables, apples, bananas, and oats always seem to feature on lists of these foods. It's a great way to nurture the survivors. You could even pair probiotic dressings with veggies.
Edit:
https://drjockers.com/top-33-prebiotic-foods/ this is a great article explaining prebiotics. The list is a chart in the article. Good news, dark chocolate and
honey are prebiotics.
