This badge bit (BB) is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in textiles.

In this project, you will make and sew a shirt.

Minimum requirements:
  - will be made from woven fabric (not knit)
  - will have a button front

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pics or video (< 2min):
  - The fabric and tools you will use for your shirt

  - Wearing the finished shirt, made to fit

I've been wanting to try sewing my own shirts for a while now and I think this is a good first attempt. I based the pattern on I shirt I already have. I hand sewed the button holes because my machine has a stitch for it but only Good knows how to work it. In my model picture please excuse all the wrinkles, my cat slept on it the night before.

Does a dress count here? It's button-up!

This is my first try sewing apparel. I think it went pretty well.

The fabric is organic cotton and the thread is cotton as well. I actually ran out of white thread about 3/4 of the way through and so some of the thread is pink.

Let me know if this will not count for a shirt BB and if there's any other thread it would do better on. Thanks!

Got a pattern. Asked my sister-in-law to verify that I am supposed to cut these pieces out before I ruin the pattern.

Started cutting out pieces. Wasn't sure if I was supposed to cut out this piece (called a "dart"?).

Starting to sew the pieces together. I struggled to figure out how to mark the places where the pieces were supposed to fit together but I think I've got a better sense for next time.

My first buttonhole. This was nerve-wracking cutting into the fabric worrying that it would be too big.

By the time I got to the ninth (last) buttonhole, my sewing was definitely cleaner.
