This badge bit (BB) is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in textiles.

In this project, you will sew stays, also known as the pre-Victorian corset.

Minimum requirements:
  - make one stay
  - use a natural fabrics
  - corset must fit
  - must include cording (not boning) for vertical support

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pics or video (< 2min):
  - The fabric and tools you will use for your project
  - Sewing in progress
  - Wearing the finished stays, to demonstrate proper fit.

You can find instructions in the following articles:
 - How to Make a Corset with Cording
 - How to Make a Corded Regency Corset

This was a fun project I hope I get to use in a Ren Faire or reenactment someday! I ordered real silk, cotton bias tape, two types of cording, an eyelet kit, and metal clasps. So many tools were used! I included them in pictures as I went.

The finished product fits well over a shift, which was the goal.

I then cut up the duct tape mock up into symmetrical pattern pieces and used them to shape the two layers of cotton and outer layer of silk

I used a white linnen fabric for linning, which I didn't decide i needed until the penultimate fitting, then eyelets and clasps

Note: Beautiful garment Rebekah.  Do you have a photograph of the linen cording and actually sewing the garment? The requirements require a picture of the tools and not spread over the photographs.

Staff note (gir bot) :

Paul Fookes approved this submission.
Note: I certify this BB complete.  Well done.  Photos are perfect

Staff note (Paul Fookes) :

Certified complete with the additional photographs below.  Congratulations on being the first person to attempt this BB.

Hello Paul! Thanks for looking over my submission. I have many other photos. Just didn't want to overwhelm you certify-ers.

The tools were a problem to picture because I'm new enough to corsetry and I didn't know all the tools I would need until I needed them. But I added another photo of the tools not pictured.
Including:
Sewing machine,
Iron+board,
Starch,
Eyelet kit,
Scissors,
Awls,
Needle and thread for attaching clasps,
Clasps
Unpicker...

Hopefully these pictures help!
