This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Dimensional Lumber Woodworking.

Adding a deck to your abode can give you more useful square footage and help you look down on your neighbors.  They are a lot of maintenance so only build one if you're ready for that future work.  Let's install the structure for a deck!

Here's a gentleman showing us one way to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - At least 100 square feet of deck structure
  - Install beams and joists
  - Install ledger board if attached to a building
  - Treated wood is ok for this BB

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The place the deck will be going
  - Several points during construction
  - Finished deck structure
