This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Dimensional Lumber Woodworking.

For the two months when it isn't snowing and the mosquitoes aren't around, it's nice to eat outside.  Let's build a picnic table!

Here's Tommy showing us one way to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a rectangular picnic table
  - Use rot resistant, untreated wood like cedar
  - Sturdy enough for Uncle Frank and his 5 friends (250 lbs ea)
  - At least 6' long and room for 6 people to sit
  - Seats are attached to the table
  - Not assembling a kit

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The lumber you're going to use for this project
  - Midway through the construction process
  - Completed table showing length if it isn't obviously long enough

What's that smell? Hey, sniff this tiny ad:
