BB) that is part of the
PEM curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the
wood badge in
Dimensional Lumber Woodworking.
We're really moving along in our carpentry skills, let's try an expert
project. Are you tired of swimming across that big lake? Let's build a wooden boat!
Here's one way to do it:
Minimum requirements:
- Make a boat from wood boards
- Some examples include:
- Sailboat, skiff, row boat, dinghy
- At least 12 feet long
- Fully usable and water tight
- Needs to look like it was built by a craftsperson
- Not a dug out canoe
- No plywood
- Fiberglass/epoxy is reluctantly permitted for this BB
- Store bought finishes are reluctantly permitted for this BB
Provide proof of the following as pictures or
video (<2 min):
- The lumber you're going to use for this project
- Multiple steps through the construction process
- Completed boat
- Boat with someone sitting in it on the water
