  • Monday through Friday the Permaculture Bootcamp  will focus on the Sepper theme of the week! Our Bootcamp High Commander Stephen will be guiding you as you work on rocket mass heater projects!

  • October 6 - 12, 2024: Rocket week!

Come play with cob and learn about Rocket Mass Heaters!

During Rocket Preparation Week  Sep 29th - Oct 5th:

While it is true that you can build a rocket mass heater largely from materials on your land and from nature, you do need to know where to look and how to grade and prep the materials.

    Sand

We will be harvesting sands from different areas because they have different properties and uses in building rocket mass heaters.
The sands and gravels are the aggregate to give cob structure.

    Clay

We will be gathering wild clay.
Clay is the glue and fills in all the tiny cracks.

    Straw

We will be gathering knapweed, grass and other dry vegetation.
These are the fibers that hold it all together.

During Rocket Mass Heater Week  Oct 6th - Oct 12th:

We have some upgrades we are working on with the Rocket Mass Heaters at Wheaton Labs.
Here are some of the projects we might be working on.  The more people that come out, the more fun things we can get done!

This will give you an opportunity to see how a rocket mass heater is constructed, maintained and optimized.

    RMH in the Red Cabin:

put finishing cob layers on the cob hat
      get signage up
      tests

RMH in the Fisher Price House:

needs to have stronger interior supports
rework a part that has some tiny gravel dribble
      add juicebox

New cob hat for the RMH in Bartell's Bunkhouse

We have a ringer for the Rocket Week!!

    Fred Tyler

A little bit more info here: Fred Tyler - ringer during Rocket Week!

I think they should change the spelling to Sandy Eggo. This tiny ad agrees with me.
