About the Movie
QuotingWikipedia:
"The Gleaners and I (French: Les glaneurs et la glaneuse) is a French documentary film by Agnès Varda from 2000 that applies this director's filmmaking process of "cinécriture" ("cinema-writing") and hand-held camera work to the subject of gleaning—historically, the gathering of farm produce left after formal harvest, here including rural-urban reclamation of disposed food and objects. The Gleaners and I was an "Official Selection" of the 2000 Cannes Film Festival, and later went on to win several major film awards.

I give this movie 9 out of 10 acorns.

My wife found this documentary researching found object art and we watched it last night.

It was definitely a bit experimental, but not too weird to enjoy for me.
It touched on a lot of topics that are important to me, not only gleaning for food, which in and on itself could be a whole documentary.

Several times I thought: "We're (were) doing that" or "My grandparents did that".
The grainy footage, the 90s look of a lot of it and the weather of northern France made me weirdly nostalgic for my childhood in Germany.
All in all a very touching and beautiful movie for me, and I hope also for other Permies!
