Bart and I created a micro documentary for all of the kickstarter supporters of the World Domination Gardening movies. It is animation rich, and a very polished, professional creation. This is short film about hugelkultur. Topics covered include:

• How to shape your landscape to be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
• Encouraging diversity inside the hugelkultur as well as outside.
• Organic vs. Permaculture
• While the full 3-DVD set is for urban gardeners as well as people with acreage, and the full 3-DVD set will contain far more information on hugelkultur, this micro documentary will be focused on gardening and have no focus on projects with larger acreage.

Here is an overhead view of the hugelkultur beds after we shaped them into a sun scoop.

Talking about how to shape your hugelkultur beds.

Kate,

Are you saying that you "bought" the micro doc? From scubbly or via kickstarter?

What is your operating system?

Kate, I had the same problem, but when I opened it with VLC video player, it worked flawlessly. I'd either try that FREE player or try something else.

Loved the video. Jealous of the clay content and organic matter in the soil in both California and Montana. I live on an acidic sand bar called Florida!

LOVED seeing the shots of Wheaton Laboratories!!! Fantastic and actually quite thrilling.

I'll +1 what was said earlier about using VLC to play videos.
Other players like QuickTime and Windows Media Player are unpredictable, but VLC plays every kind of video on all platforms - Mac, Windows, and even Linux.

It's a good audio player, too. It plays audio formats that iTunes et al don't understand.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the microdoc on hugel kultur.

Unfortunately, I had the same problem as another poster. I'm on a recent Mac and the latest operating system.

The video is jittery and and has no sound when played in Quicktime Player.

Would you be willing to re-encode if indeed this is the case for everyone trying to use quicktime player?

Whty the need to download another video player for what should be easy compatibility with Quicktime as an mp4?

Thank you!

Chris

Thanks Kate, I have VLC and produce videos!

I'm just suggesting to make it easier for permies and scubbly in the future.

They'll keep getting inquiries every time somebody tries to download and play with a common setup.

And of course, I don't want to have to re-encode it to play on my iPad.

Awesome !!! Loved it, thought it was funny that our hugel beds look a lot the same... I had been wondering about the lemon tree in Montana, I'm gonna try it here in WV, is there a specific type of lemon you are looking at trying or a kind you may be wondering about that I could try, I'm all for helping with the experiment....I have added a bed between the large and small hugels where i'll place the tree, hoping the heat will focus there in the winter, and be shaded enough not to burn it up in the summer...

Bought it with the affiliate link, PayPal sent me back here and the video was here and ready to watch! Watching with whatever player is on this thread, working fine, just slow buffering with my slow dsl lite internet. But, I can pause it, go make a glass of chocolate milk, come back and watch what has loaded! Then pause again and post this reply. Just a reminder, you may need to open PayPal in a new tab or whatever and be sure you are logged out. Great vid so far, Thanks, Bobby

Nice!

I can't praise The Duke any higher.

Because of Paul, my life is changed.  Don't really know how the affiliate link will help, but I think I got a plan...

I am about to start season two of my Boise Idaho Hugel Beds.  Am adding soil and mulch to fill in the holes from last year.  Last year voles got my melons.  This year I am committed to regular cut/chop/drop.

Thanks Paul, thanks Permies.

I see 4 images and only the last one seems to link to something downloadable - a 16 min file.

I just want to confirm that there is only that one 16min file to download.

Thanks!

I don't watch netflix, so I don't know.

Same question, asked differently - does each of the 4 images in the first post relate to a stream?

How long is the microdoc?

Thanks!

I can't believe the cheap price for this micro-documentary!  I am looking forward to learning a little bit more about hugelkultur, and commenting about it!  I just finished the video, and learned a few things.  I appreciate this opprtunity!

Thanks Paul!  Just finished viewing.  So big question....how did that macadamia end up doing?  Or did you ever go back and try the lemon?  I like growing figs here in Maine that I train low to the ground ("step over espalier") and then cover in bags of cedar mulch each winter.  Would love to be able to avoid having to cover them!  I'm picturing training them as an espalier along the south side of the hugels.

Hi Paul, this is the third video of the series.

The first one i saw was hosted on vimeo, had to reduce the quality to 360p to get it working without pulling my hair out. It was justin rhodes 45min video.

the second one was hosted on youtube, whent OK, no problem at all. it was care for RMH.

this third one hosted on vimeo claims i have an unsupported viewing environment, so things aren't getting better.

would really appreciate if you could resolve this problem.

best regards,

JC

This is the first I have heard of this.

What is your environment?  What is your browser and OS?
