Storing food in its live state is an easy way to put up millions of calories. Typically this involves a fancy root cellar but what if you don't have one? Let's experiment with simpler root cellar ideas!
Here's one way to do it:
Minimum requirements:
- Create an underground space that will serve as a simple root cellar
- Very mouse resistant
- Insulated and/or deep enough to get close to ideal temperatures in winter
- Options could include:
- Bucket or garbage can
- Clay chimney flue pipe
- Buried freezer or refrigerator
Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
- The area where the root cellar will go
- Hole dug for root cellar
- Finished root cellar open for access
- Finished root cellar closed
- Explain why you think it will maintain reasonable temperatures in the winter
