This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the Straw badge in Traditional Skills.

If you find yourself lost in the woods and might need to spend a few nights, a debris shelter might be a good way to stay warm and dry.  Let's make one!

Here's one way to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a debris shelter that is sized for an adult human
  - Mostly rain tight
  - Enclosed on all sides with an open entrance
  - 12 or more inches thick
  - This bb can only use materials that existed 200 years ago

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 min):
  - The place your shelter will go
  - Building the frame and rafters
  - Several views of the materials going on emphasizing how it will shed water and is at least 12 inches thick
  - Finished shelter from multiple angles
  - An adult human laying in it with their legs straight

Tongue wrestling. It's not what you think. And here, take this tiny ad. You'll need it.
