Transform 1-yard of fabric into oilcloth - PEP BB textile.straw.wax.yard

I need to make oil cloth for my triple layer winter window curtains. I followed the tutorial in the description.

The cloth I’m using is a queen size 100% cotton bed sheet I bought second hand.



I need two pieces for the two windows in my sons room. Both window frames are identical. 1343 x 909 mm



I cleared my work table and wiped it clean before spreading out the sheet.



I made a mixture of 1:1 Boiled Linseed Oil and Mineral Oil as per the instructions in the tutorial



I painted sections



Until half the sheet was done - roughly 110cm /  42 inches wide



I cut a section 135cm by 110cm. I then rotated the remaining piece which was 100cm / 39 inches wide and painted up to 135 cm / 53 inches and cut it out.

I hung both sections on the line to dry with the required photo showing the width. 1 yard is 91cm

Note: the post refers to using mineral oil, but the recipe cited and the photo specify mineral spirits. I’d be very interested in something like this that doesn’t use petroleum distillates, because of both the petroleum and the VOCs. Once this is well ventilated it is probably pretty good, but some folks are sensitive to spirits. Thanks for the post, as well as the window coverings one! Inspiring!
