There is a different header on the website main pages as of yesterday morning.  This consolidated a bunch of links and made the top of the screen a bit sexier (at least in my opinion).  Not all pages on permies have the new header and that's related to some other known situations.

The experts are doing some testing behind the scenes to catch glitches and figure them out.

This would be a good place to mention any issues you are seeing with the new header (please include your browser, type of device and screen shots of the issue if you could).

This would also be a good place to lavish love on the folks that brought this improvement to the site

I noticed the changes yesterday and thought they were really nice.

I haven't had any issues with the links. I am using the Brave browser on my home PC.

I think it looks good. My first thought was how long has it taken me to notice this and now I can't picture how it looked before 🙄

I haven't noticed any glitches.  I use an old iPad mini that is too old to upgrade and the browser is safari.   Although if I saw any issues, I have no idea (no tech skills here) how to do a screen shot to report them anyway.

Thanks for the work put into this!

Would it be possible to collapse it when not needed?
Now it is taking up vertical screen space all the time. (I have plenty of horizontal space, but vertical space is more limited.)

I like it. It's clean and to the point.

I'll bet tablet users will love it.

Except: I have to click an extra time to see "likes" (oh, the pain!).

So far, everything seems to work on Linux Mint laptop with Firefox and Chromium browsers.

If you have pie, in your pie preferences, you can select a check box to keep it pinned to the top of the page.

I think we might be getting this as a PIE feature...or maybe it's a feature there already? (I understand about lacking vertical space--It's a pretty small menu, but it does take up quite a bit of space on my desktop monitor, too!)

The advanced search function isn't functioning for me. I see the drop down menu option but nothing happens if I select it. Basic search seems to work fine.

Looks good to me, and I haven't come across any functionality that isn't functional. Using Chrome on a Chromebook.

I am running Chrome on a Chromebook as well and have had no issues either. It looks great and it much less crowded now!

Windows 8 on a Dell Precision laptop in desktop view mode. Firefox browser. A few minutes ago even the basic search didn't work.

I don't think anyone's been able to get the drop-down search function to work yet, and it seems like sometimes hitting "enter" and doing a normal search works, and sometimes it doesn't.

Just in case people hadn't noticed, there's a drop-down menu under the little page symbol, and that drop-down menu will take you to the advanced search.

Hmm, the drop down search works great for me with firefox and a windows laptop.  I type "donkey" in the search bar.  It opens up a drop down of options (advance search, search within this forum, google search, etc).  If I just hit enter, it searches the whole site.  If I click one of those other spots, it generates a donkey search within those parameters.  So it seems to work fine for me....

I think the answer to your question is in this thread: https://permies.com/wiki/160/52136/Permaculture-circle-Elite-PIE#1200303
