Should I buy one Fertilizer Spreader? Or not?

Recently, I have realized the grass in my garden turned into yellow because I used overloaded fertilizers for it. Thus, I wonder that I should buy Fertilizer Spreader, which helps the number of fertilizers is more balanced. But I am afraid that it isn't necessary. Anyone has experiences who can give me some advices?

I am a member of social Agreedhand where you can find some usefull information about gardening and more than that.

I have a drop spreader and a broadcast spreader but both are only used to spread seeds not fertilizer.
the commercial fertilizers are for golf courses in my opinion, if we are building our soil, even in grassy places you should only need to spread seeds and perhaps some minerals to feed the soil microorganisms.

I use a spreader to broadcast sea-90 over large areas. It works well for me.

I just heard someone said that "I should get rabbits. They will mown and fertilize at the same time".

What did you decide finally? Rabbits? Here is a good review for someone who still doesn't know what to choose

A spreader will work great if you can grind the char fine enough.
