I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year; I just can't stop planting.
When I was a horse nut I just couldn't stop training; if I had even 30 minutes to spare in my day then I had to take on another customer - to the point of exhaustion.
Now it is gardening.
Every sqaure inch of prepared area is planted with so much stuff that I don't know what is in there anymore and today I picked up some yellow squash seeds and planted watermelon and cosmos that showed up free in the mail. The only reason I stopped is because it is dark out.
The up side is that we get food out of it. And I suppose that there really isn't a down side -- I could just be sitting around watching TV all day.
It is 10:33pm..........only 7 and a half hours till daylight again................
This thread should be renamed to people who want social reinforcement that relaxing is a bad thing. I put in 1100 soil blocks last weekend, then my wife caught wind and planted up 700 plugs from some leftover trays the next day. There's some peas coming out and I'm already having anxiety about the whole it will create in the greenhouse. I promised the animals I'd make pellets tomorow but I still got my eye on fitting in a cattail transplanting from some local gutters. I find permaculture is a great guise for workaholics.
She still doesn't approve of my superhero lifestyle. Or this shameless plug:
