Dec 2019 I bought 4.4 acres of prime raw land in southern lake county Fl and have been slowly developing it since then, I have 12 pullets, 4 ducklings, an 18 ft well, small hugel, 20x30 pond, humanure setup and two camping sites.
So far a friend has brought a truck full of soil out there other than that everything has been transported at least 5 miles by bicycle to the homestead.
Got a small homestead in central florida with goats, geese, chickens, ducks, canines and two florida cracker horses that will be bred this spring to carry mules I am interested in finding persons experienced with training mules to come live for free in exchange for their training.
Lots of good trees for the climber stand, theres a cypress pond onsite.
Another big project is constructing a chickee hut so big bonus points If you have documented miccosoucke or seminole tribal membership as they can build said structures in FL with very little permitting provided theres no electrical or plumbing components.
If you would like to live and work around one of the highest concentrations of gopher tortoises the Van Fleet Trail would be a great choice, the old railroad grade the paved trail sits on is high and dry for them and regularly mowed 10 ft on either side allowing them great foraging and ease of movement.
I've got a swamp local lined up to help with the fencing some future projects include ; installation of a cypress flagpole, adding a second well, building a sweat lodge and installation of a ranch style head gate.
Thank you for the BIG pictures of WildLife. Looks like a strong presence of critters! Nice that you have your own as well. I have heard of Chickens, attacking and eating Snakes...have yyou observed this?

Ben thank you for commenting, I have seen the chickens eat small amphibians and imagine at the rate they are going snakes will be on the menu soon enough we have many snakes as well.
My next tracel will be somewhere close by in the state game lands adjacent to where I'm living Green Swamp Wilderness.
Here is some more wildlife less than 1 mile north of Polk city Fl.
I'm thinking about using feral hog hides for the sweat lodge as they are abundant and can be hunted year round on private property with spotlights, baits, traps, dogs etc.
I am not native American and plan on using it therapeutically probably in the cooler months.
