Hello again! So I experimented with some rose petal products, and I've narrowed it down to my top 5 here: https://www.catintheflock.com/2020/06/5-cool-uses-for-rose-petals.html

I think my favorite is the pickled rose petals, but the rose water sure is pretty and fragrant.

Thank you for the inspiration Lisa!  I'm going outside right now to pick some rugosa petals.  :)

What is/are your favorite way(s) to use your pickled rose petals?

Thanks, Greg! We've used the pickled rose petals as an added ingredient in really any salad. We've also used it on top of chervil pesto over noodles, which was really nice. If you've ever eaten pesto with sundried tomatoes, it takes the place of the tomatoes for that umami element.

Do you not find rose petals horribly bitter? I've made rose jelly that was ok and some alcohol things but the petals themselves taste vile to me. (these were rosa rugosa)

Skandi, did you try removing the attachment point from the petals?

^^^ What Greg said above. Also, we used the buds with the stem, outer bud leaf still attached in the pickled rose petals, and it was delicious. My husband has a very sweet-oriented palate, and he loved them. You pickle them with honey and vinegar.

She'll be back. I'm just gonna wait here. With this tiny ad:
