Started on the woods-style open air coop

It's not much to look at so far, but I wanted to track the build somewhere. I've never really built anything like this, so I'm just winging it. I have the book, but the pictures aren't very good, so I'm just building it in that style. I did have one happy accident so far. I decided to build my coop 8x16, rather than 10x16. My reasoning was that it was better use of materials. In keeping with that idea, I made my end walls 7 feet 5 inches to allow for the side walls to be beside them, giving me my 8 feet. After I starting building walls, I realized I hadn't made any allowance for siding, so I would have to figure out how to make the roof a few inches wider. I kept building, while trying to figure out the roof. No good ideas were appearing,so I figured I would just press on and worry about the roof later. A couple days ago, I decided to stand up the end wall and the 6 foot piece of the side wall, just to see how things were looking. The light bulb moment! Rather than put the side walls next to the end wall, I could put them inside it. Woohoo! The building is now 7'5" wide and will be 16'7" long. Roof problem solved.

You can see by the pictures that I used a hodge podge of materials. Almost all free. I bought a few 2x4s and the hardware cloth. In the pictures, the 2x4 just lying on the floor is to show total length of the coop. The frame sitting to the right is the other end wall. I got a brand new, very expensive, window for free. It's larger than I planned, and takes up most of the 6' part of the side wall. Sorry for the poor pictures.

Your chickens are very lucky because that looks like it is going to be amazing.  I can't wait to see it finished.
