Cross posted in ducks. I want to keep my goats and ducks together but do not want the goats eating all flock. Suggestions? Thanks!

I would suggest putting it in an area that the goats cant get too.
poultry food isn't good for goats as it is very high in calcium and can cause serious urine track problems that can be very costly to fix and fatal to the goats.

Due to loose dog's as n the neighborhood I have to keep my livestock on lockdown bit I want to rotate my ducks with my goats in the future so they can be more free range. I'm trying to get ideas for a feeder / feed house that's portable that ducks can get to but goat can not. Right now I'm just giving he ducks sweet feed and grit. It is 12% sweet feed and the layer feed is 16% so my biggest worry is enough calcium. I can not affort two portable electric fences at this point and do not want to keep my ducks in a stationary confined area since they can't be free range.

the problem with goats is there smart, strong and will eat anything.
can you make a small area with a couple of pallets or something that the ducks can get into but the goats cant. like in a corner.
Do they all bed down together? if the ducks have a house of sorts that they sleep in you could feed them in there

Regards Phil

So, any sort of box that's large enough for ducks to go further in than a goat's head can reach, and a small enough pop-door that the goat's head is *all* that will fit? Feed goes in the back of the box. Spilled feed stays in the box. Can be closed up at night so rats/mice don't get in. Does that fit the description? The box could have wheels at one end and an handle at the other so it's easy to tip up and move. The lid would have to be hinged for easy access, but sufficiently lockable that smart goats won't figure out how to unlock it. I suggest the lid be angled even though that's more of a nuisance to build, but I'm in a rainy area and every time I've let the web convince me that a flat roof was "fine", I've regretted it.

Good night. Drive safely. Here's a tiny ad for the road:
