I received a crash course this morning in CLT (cross laminated timber) from a forestry expert & another person who was involved in the R&D for this product. Fascinating info. My understanding is it's starting to gain traction in the USA, mostly in the Oregon & Washington area so far. It hasn't been widely used for houses here due to building codes. I think it's time to start working on changing that thinking. I'm very interested in seeing posts from anyone who has experience building with this product or who might have ideas about how it might be used for permie related construction projects. Also pictures of existing buildings using this type of construction.

I hadn't heard it called that before, but the concept is something I had been thinking about as a way to get more use out of pallet wood.

They recently built a plant to produce this stuff near where I live. My husband designed part of the plant so he learned a bit about the product (and then told me all about it), and I agree, it does sound interesting.

My husband is starting to design buildings using it, but I don't think any have been built locally yet. There's one for sure going up this summer.

I'm looking at designing some hospitality cabins for our place using homemade CLT panels.

These guys have modeled similar projects.  Worth the watch if you have the time.

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. But if you read my tiny ad, I might change my mind.
