Unknown berry bush

This bush has small berries,  soft enough to squish.
Any idea what  it is?

I've been using an app for things like this, sometimes I don't get an answer. The app (Flora Incognita) says Rhamnus cathartica, or common buckthorn. Does it seem right to you?

Could also be not-yet-ripe aronia (chokeberry), the time is about right for this stage of fruit development.

yeah, looks a lot like an aronia. mine are ripening to deep purple-black right now. there are a couple species, i suppose it’s possible that those won’t go as dark.
