You know we are enduring a Nasty drought when my daughter and I hear it raining at 12:45 am and we run outside to stand in the rain.  It felt good, it smelled good, it was it's own kind of joy.  I can't remember the last time it rained.  Unfortunately it didn't last long. We need it so very bad.  I'm thankful I was awake to enjoy it.

It rained here in southern Oregon last night as well. It was glorious. I awoke to it as I sleep with all the windows open. We got .15" of rain, not much but better than nothing. Hopefully it has helped clear the air a little as we have been vacillating between unhealthy and hazardous air quality for weeks.

I feel for you.  We got record-setting amounts of rain for August this year, 9" above normal I believe.

The last thirty days I haven't been able to see the sun from all smoke from the fires in our area I saw it for the first time yesterday for a few hours and then it started raining at about 8 p.m and lasted all night. Was able to open the windows and enjoyed every minute of it.

Hopefully the rainy season will start early on the west coast. While it fortunately isn't as bad here in Colorado this year so far the air has been unhealthy most summer days for the fires farther west.

Well, the weather app says that our air is still unhealthy, but I saw blue skies today. Huzzah. And we actually got some solar gain which is great because I'm not used to having to use the generator in August and September.

A friend was asking how I could tell the difference between fog and smoke. The sunlight when it breaks through fog is clear and bright. Through smoke, it is red, hot but quite dark, very different.
