Introducing Zach Weiss' 10 Heroes of Water (two of whom are Level 10 on Paul's Eco-Scale)

Howdy ya'll.

Just wanted to pop in to say hi and share a video we (Zach Weiss and crew) just put out through Water Stories.

The video is about our 10 Heroes of Water

As you can see, two of our Water Heroes are Sepp Holzer and Willie Smits, two of the people in Level 10 of Paul's Wheaton Eco-Scale. (So, they're obviously awesome.)

We hope to share with you the amazing stories of all of all of these Water Heroes, and show you that no matter where you are, or what your circumstance, you have the power to make a positive impact on your local water cycle.

I'm really excited about this video, and about our coming films about some of these people.  There are so many examples around the world of people restoring their landscapes, we need more people to understand what is really possible.

I’m also very interested in water stories and water conservation/restoration so looking forward to this video. I’d love to be a part of a project that improves the availability of water on some land somewhere. I’d like to mention a unsung hero of water: the late Dee Raymer brought constructed wetlands to Kenya and developed several examples there. She also was one of my permaculture teachers and co-taught a PDC I attended there. She also updated and revised the classic Gardening in East Africa book.
 I’m trying to locate a water conservation project?: I heard a radio program about a ranch in Spain that struggled for many years to drain the wetland but then someone said  “the problem is the solution” and they switched to aquaculture. Does anyone know the name of this project? Thanks.

Greetings Jeremy, thanks for your interest and comment.  We certainly welcome you to join the water stories community and start participating there!  This community will be growing over the coming year to a group of practitioners all working on projects for their local waters.

I love nothing more than finding unsung heroes of water and ecosystem regeneration, thank you for the name!  I am not able to find much about Dee and her work online.  Are there any good resources you could point me towards to learn more about her work?

The project you are speaking of (I believe) is Veta La Palma.  Dan Barber discusses this project in his ted talk which I also included.
