I felt the need to post on here and get a little cheesy that I LOVE the positivity and friendliness of permie people. I LOVE that being mean is actively discouraged and that grown ups discuss things with maturity, even when they disagree. And I LOVE the silliness and goofiness that goes on right next to serious stuff.

I have lots of happy places IRL, but for online, this is my safe and happy place. Thank you!

Yup. Permies is always nice, with a great balance of really good discussions, and silly stuff, and that's, for me, perfect, and why I love it here :)
Rare for me to find a place on the net where I can show more than one side of who I am. I use the word 'multifaceted" to describe myself, and few people have any interest in more than one or two things I like. Having a whole pile of people here like me makes my heart sing and my feet dance with joy! That would be the feet that I had to scrub the dirt and grease off of after working yesterday. Which to me, is the best part, but try to explain THAT to the non-permies world...

:D

It is the best site on the web.  I am lightly active in two other well moderated sites (chess and astronomy), but Permies feels like home. I check my email. I probably have 5 more sites I go to without any level of involvement. Other than that, I am off the web. Frankly, I expect my web activity to drop off more by the end of the year.

I found the forum trying to ID some plants.  That is still my favorite topic.

Though I love learning about permaculture principles.

I also like learning about how to build soil by making compost, compost tea, using wood chips, and growing mushrooms.

Currently, there is a very informative post about making bonemeal that I would recommend to everyone.

Yes, Jenny, this is the best place for social networking.

I too love this:

Brace yourself while corporate america tries to sell us its things. Some day they will chill and use tiny ads.
