Seed Balls Design Promo

This week Gail Saito from Seedsinaball.com will be hosting a seed balls design promo. The goal of the promo is to get interesting seed balls mix ideas for different places and with different plants to give Gail inspiration for new products. I think that an apple tree guild seed mix would be really cool, but that is just my opinion

There are up to four pre-made seed balls bags up for grabs.

Gail will be popping into the forum over the next few days to stir the discussion and get ideas to create new seed balls mix.

From now through this Friday, any posts in this forum, ie the fukuoka forum, could be selected to win.

Hi ~ some ideas for your seedballs coming to me (yes, I would love to win one, can they be sent to Vancouver Island?) are 1. flowers in the bridal colours
2. edible groundcovers 3. ones with interesting seed heads 4. ones with a predominant fragrance note, such as cloves or onions or woodsy. Hope this helps, Linnet

Great timing! Looking to put together Perennial Forage seed balls to inoculate some of my pastures and woodlots with good forages for livestock (skewed towards the piggies).

Do you have any seed balls yet that combine edible flowers and salad greens?

I would like to see a chestnut tree guild, along with the apple guild idea above. Include a few chestnuts and the guild plants in ball form, in a small burlap sack. Instructions included would direct the buyer to fill sack with soil/compost for the chestnut itself, before tossing.

Another idea is for seedballs of pest-repellent flowers, those which can be planted near windows and doors. Also combinations which can be collected and then used as dyes, for those working with fibres.

Another idea for seed balls might be for summer drought tolerant plants...ie Mediterranean Climate
...A seed ball with seed for swampy / wetland areas....
...For cooler, shady places........
Having the balls to go as guilds under the trees is great, but the trees can often tolerate a more diverse range of temps / moisture than their counterpart, so zone sensitive or heat and moisture sensitive balls would be appealing to me!
