I was inspired by this thread https://permies.com/t/236919/Easy-kitchen-home-modifications-life to go find a video I had watched a while ago.

While I'm not so impressed with what USDA has been doing lately... I am very impressed by this work they did researching an ideal kitchen back in 1949. They created a kitchen to save time and steps. It is really interesting, and I think we could all learn a lot. There are some great features that I cannot imagine why we don't use more often today. The good stuff starts about 3m 50 seconds in.

Thanks for sharing!

It was intriguing to see what systems they had. The thumbnail image left me thinking it had a hoosier cabinet but lo and behold it had the same function but was all built it.

We're currently building a house and in my own thoughts of kitchen functionality I pretty much drew up the same design and general idea/location for things. But I actually have a pantry! I'm definitely missing the fancy bins for vegetables, flour, etc. but have thought through storage for the things that do take up a lot of space within the pantry.

I find it funny this kitchen is being pitched to the farmer's wife because I doubt any farmer was going to afford all of that custom cabinetry. Or perhaps the farmer is expected to build it himself just as my husband will be building our cabinetry. :)
