Hadn't seen Waterboxx before - great concept. He's so right about the trees. When Arizona Homegrown Solutions got a grant to revamp the tree nursery at Scottsdale Community College, one of the things they wanted to do was revamp the "deep pot" area for growing native trees because they had noticed the same die-off behavior in trees with pot-bound tap roots. They initially start trees in tall PVC tubes to encourage tap root growth.
