We got a new puppy a few months ago and I want to organize her medical records.

I need ideas for something cute, organized, and handy so I am looking for suggestions ...

She looks just like this even though I found this picture on the net:

Source

Red Dachshund; big ears and big paws ...

Her name is Princess.  I have never given a dog a nickname until now ...

Lil Sneak or Lil Toot.  She also gets called Trouble a lot because that was our dog that passed away in December.

I'm so excited for you Anne!

I love my little dachshund, even if she is a little menace from time to time.

I wish I had a better suggestion for you, all I use is a manilla folder that I keep in a filing cabinet along with other household records. I keep the oldest records in the front of the folder and add new ones to the back.

Maybe this thread will give me ideas to improve my own record keeping!

We are going to be camping and I want something I can take out if I need to show her health certificate, etc.

Maybe something with her picture on it or something cute.

Maybe one of those clipboard paper containers like you see on a construction sight?  It is about 1/2 to 1 inch thick so it can contain a bunch of receipts and invoices, but has a clipboard top so it can be used to write and sign easily in the field.  This would make it easy to have the records, pull out the required one and clip it into place.

My idea is to use a file folder, the kind with pockets and makes a three-ring binder.

Pink in color.

I bought rose decals to decorate the cabinets in the camper so adding a few of those to the front.

Inside I will have page pockets with pictures I got from the breeder, the birth certificate, the health record, then misc. medical records.

What do you think?

I look at scrapbooking stuff though I was not impressed ...

If you get a three ring binder, consider one that has the rings on one of the sides, not on the back spine--it makes opening and closing easier and the pages don't get torn.  Also, D shaped rings are better in this application than circular ones.

I have learned this from experience in keeping vast amounts of paper records and classroom materials in a binder.

This reminds me of one of the jobs I had at the state park or the National Forest or maybe both.

At the state park, I rented boats.  I seem to remember having a clip board to keep track of who rented the boat, what time and when returned.

At the National Forest, we used the clipboards to keep track of which sites were occupied.

Those days are long gone.

Timothy and Eric, I appreciate the thoughts and memories.
