Work-Exchange / Tent Space Inquiry (With Child)

Dear Permies

I am in need for an independent, community-minded land share and real connection with those who value hard work, mutual respect, and basic human understanding.Right now, my family is homeless and in a temporary living situation and we need to make a long-term transition. Even if whatever to cover the rest of our expense to get has to be docked from my pay. I'll bare with what I can get till it's paid off. Please, humbily it's no use suggesting shelters and housing, it's reasons to why we caught ourselves with this, that I'll spare the details. Yet I feel like if there was something more to this I'll do it and that's how came across the genre of  Eco Villages, Permaculture!

 I am aware there something to embrace about the elements and environs. I have my own gear, enough to stake somewhere to lay, you know. I am looking for a secure place where I can pitch my tent long-term. I am a dedicated worker and I want to earn our keep through daily labor. I'll even volunteer to earn our stay. I am happy to help with others in the communal kitchen, and doing chores. And wherever else I'm seen as a good fit towards doing

  I am traveling with my child, who needs to be near a public school district. My child processes the world a little differently and has some behavioral concepts that require a patient, calm environment. They thrive when they have open, natural spaces to move around in and decompress safely. I hear Alaska takes prides in being tight -knit, their resilience, been raising kids there so they're good for what's it's like there.
We are looking for a community that has the structural patience to accept people as they are, without judgement or with a heart to heart that's considerate. 
If you have space on your land for a long-term tent setup in exchange for dedicated work, or if you know a fellow farmer in your network who does, please let me know. I would love to talk directly to see if we are a good fit for each other.

I never thought with deciding this that I wouldn't meet challenges. Such as the elements, what I don't know about hori and agriculture. What I wasn't used to or have to face about nature. At first it was mainly the feel from short-term camping experience and that I'll deal with whatever it as I'm taken on. It didn't even start yet being tried. The demand is couples, men college students and backpackers. When I began reaching out at first and nothing came up. I was like maybe with this situation of currently living out of our tent , it'll be somewhat of a simulation of what I'll might be enduring or having to come across to say I'm serious.
  I'm scared of spiders but I been overcoming parts of that fear. Lived through winter, My tent been fine I'm just not in a place where it's  accepted or where they want to accept it from me.. Also I feel this barrier of how this country or even this genre poorly characterize what people they'll take serious to pursue farming and I already surpassed a lot of those stereotypes on my own of what Its assumed to not handle.. I'm not requiring about anything romantic,  just agape if anything. I'm an American of what it's about of liking my independence and yet I get so much crap for it. From people claiming they're so patriotic

Hi here I am crouched at 4 am to a WiFi spot because it's getting weirder with the person who let us take a stay with my tent in their backyard, because we're homeless. They drew back me using their power outlet because I wouldn't give him play, pretty sure that's why. I kept to myself more because this person kept being sleezy and making these comments about my race whenever just trying at cool conversation after offering us stay there till we leave .

 I'm not working or finding labor off the books in the area to find something productive. At it at the hotspots to reach out online also about employment, work-exchange Farm work or homesteads in Alaska, along with this area. I recently find out about Permies because of it . It's fine it's his stuff but the reason over it is selfishly unkind. I don't like when I can't compensate what I use from someone anyway. This is why I barely trust help from men and tired of women acting like it's not grown of a woman to put out. Like come on , every woman for being attractive or having a hard doesn't mean she should all the more ok with it or being told it's grown up honey. I wouldn't tell that to my daughter. I truly  hoped in crossing my fingers this could end with moving on;  on a good note. I would've hoped that after this he finds the woman he looking because you never know what God will have on store for you for being there in way someone needs than your own schemes.  This picture is yesterday someone kicked over our tent while I was gone hunting. Thinking about it I wouldn't be surprised if it was the owner.

Hi Permies,

I'm a mother, I'm just trying to catch myself and start a new life after a messy break up from a lot bad ties , and be where I exist in a good way. We have those in life , right? I'm here through a very helpful web search. It's been about a year that went cold of searching because when I started it was on Workaway and WOOFER on trying to dive in about this whole lifestyle, it's so many names for it. Eco Village, Intended Community, Permaculture, Farmstead  etc. I been In a rut of finding myself  abruptly homeless , while keeping to my sober, celibate and vegan-ish (because homeless) before all this happened and finding a steady place to bridge my tent. TBH I'm so proud of my tent and what all it done for us all this got us through winter, when everything closed off taking me and my child in. I'm looking for work-exchange and something to keep me in case it's short term that comes with learning what I am put to know about agriculture and this lifestyle and and making lasting connections.
 Like I said I knew that taking steps there would be challenges or what might to overcome , I expected that out of nature or the farmwork itself. It's been more biases I'm not to distress on that portion. But, to catch a break to shape me about it of I don't look it so much now, give a chance to shape me and see how I go with what I'm good as a start about...
 I never knew about this , I come from my love of camping as a child, and went digging from there I came across displaced camping, backpacking, etc to find what's going on now that might be thing pertaining to that. Like extended branches of camping.

I can't say how impressed I am with you surviving in a tent with a child over winter - how did you manage? Apart from the cold, I would be worried about snow loading, although snow would at least be extra insulation at least!
I hope you find a safe and welcoming place for you both soon.

I would recommend the site ic.org  It's the premier website for intentional communities worldwide, and it's searchable both by keyword and location.  Many communities, especially the newer or forming ones, are always looking for willing workers, and being willing to camp is a plus.

I guess one question is how able to travel are you, even to make one jump from where you are now to a promising opportunity. there are also threads on this forum about people offering opportunities for work-based land-share.  You will have to go through them one by one to see if any will work out.  Sorry about the dude you're staying with! I've known more than one woman on line who ended up basically stuck in an abusive situation in a remote area this way....they ended up fundraising from on line friends to make an escape. Ugh!  You might keep an eye out for land managed by a couple, a woman, or a group as an attempt to avoid this.

I have found free and close to free camping at some camp grounds.   A community would be really great.

No I don't mind the merge, it did get kind spammy so to make  aware to others.

It's like we've distanced ourselves and still have, not even speaking. It's avoidant which is fine.while at it took these subtle jabs that lets me they want us to leave and I'm trying to make my way to get going.  Like I said recently I came back from making posts and checking for replies  and our tent was kicked over.

I wasn't alerted of these and I apologize!! It took me just checking in to cheer up to see if there was posts I could reply to.  Something came through that was important and it intercepted as junk mail and I missed the date while my email keeps forwarding everything that trollish to my inbox. That's crazy. Thank you

I'm trying to come over from the Midwest lol.  I, I feel like people that found something to make out of their lives  can enjoy a "slow life" , pace kind of thing  those that's searching and feeling their way around, out of place that's sort of thing, needs things to act fast . It's not right.

Good you bring that, that was what looking into before as well, the campsite  at state or national or dense area yet near a town.Kept being met with moving every 14 or 21 days or a fee per night, recently a law was made of it being a felony offense. I'm man this craft. Even though the tent is easy in being portable ,moving that often would be taxing I also pull our belongings while that's on my back . You know, so I got stuck again
 Then I was like ok are there idk semi- off grid or off-grid communities or ranch that might let me pitch on their ground for work exchange. They offer it like that for RVs so I tried a shot at. So eco villages and homesteads came up and I came across permies along the way

Hi Alder, yes I love all this pep rally about it , it's definitely something I'd like to be apart of.  Not much come up even from talks , that's not trying to make arrangements from besides the point. I been scouting different sites , posts , reaching out, trying to share my situation enough.

 I was in a situation just like that woman, I did gofundme and got completely blown off of even the seriousness of it. So I'm Glad it worked out  for her in the way, I would've needed it to work out for me once upon a time. The way it did was still an dick move on their part. People need to stop invalidating women thinking they need to turn abuse into a partnership or it's something with the woman not making herself more taking in when what's she doing is just enough till more trust is built

Thank you, well here is good leaning towards that thank you for the warm regards. Thinking of it as like people that live near the Artic does this everyday, even raising children  What animals do to really put together their nest before hibernation was some inspirations and finding things as junk going with my gut or checking on the web if I can make any use out of it. Everytime during the night checking my child being warm and snoring have me so much relief and assurance of what I done to safeguard. When taking in the beauty of winter in those woods, gave good perspective also,It was unexpected and I had to put something together fast Ms. Nancy

Hi Permies,

I just want to ask, because I feel really stumped about it.. I thought I landed an interview and it didn't go through to happen. I'm all this time working on this with applying to places, while trying to help my child to behave and trying to get my responses and fill out forms before standing here too long causes trouble. I know before I asked about where might be hiring farm help, while the weather is alright for my tent for now. Nothing. I'm even looking for entry-level places  that would have barracks or something my child and I, for me to work there. My expenses only covers parts of the way, so like a relocation.... And all I have is wagon with some hefty bags of our belongings, and my portable crashout. So I don't think I'll come with shelling out too much to be considerate. Anyone have any ideas, or suggestions or something or anything. Ok thank you take care .
