Hi all, I was planning on burning off the paint from my barrel. It contained dental-grade glycerine. I was going to papier-mache a la wheaton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpCu7aG3fgI

Does pocket rocket just mean adding a pipe into middle of the drum fire? I have stove pipe I could use. If it doesn't work I can just burn it off once it's cobbed right? Or will the burning paint hurt the cob?

PS I don't have rockwool to do this: https://permies.com/t/19650/rocket-stoves/Paint-Gallon-Drum

Remy Olson :One pipe going at least 2/3rds of the way to the bottom. and about 2 lengths of stove pipe for
a Final vertical chimney

The Clay slip and news paper make a very fine job, By using the Pocket Rocket you learn a little more about your
Craft And there is no danger of the barrel warping !

Burning it off after you have Cobbed it implies that you are burning it of inside !

Two separate people who never met have assured me this will give you a Wicked Headache!

For the Good of the Craft ! BIG AL

Remy; Depending on where you live, use it like a burn barrel. I simply stood my barrel on end and threw in scrap wood ,lit it off and wala ! Almost no paint in just a few minutes. The bottom crimped end needed a little paint burned off with a hand touch but 95 % was gone in 15 minutes.

I guess I didn't get my fire hot enough? https://flic.kr/p/pNaDV7

Did you light on fire w/lamp oil or gas?

I put the pipe in the middle of the fire and it didn't seem to get it roaring much better. Maybe my wood is too fresh. It was cherry cut in September. I may have to buy seasoned wood since all my wood was cut in Sept -- a cherry and a large oak.

Hey, sticks and stones baby. And maybe a wee mention of my stuff:
