It seems like everyday there's another pseudo-rocket stove out there - or am I wrong?

Is this safe?

Because I own the Wheaton/Wisner 4 dvd rocket, I feel that this design is not safe. Am I right?

You need fire brick, not cinderblocks right? Regular bricks can pop like popcorn!

i believe that it is used for outdoor cooking and sort of a quick setup, not as a permanent rocket stove. use what you have around kind of thing.
i view it as a teaching tool to show what the rocket concept is about.

I see that assuredly, BUT I also know that if by some fluke you do a good job setting the heat up that you can easily get it too hot & pop some bricks (don't know if cinder blocks will pop too... but they aren't firebricks).

Cinder blocks can pop too, because there's silicium in there. But without insulation the likelyhood of such an event isn't very large, or dangerous in my opinion.

The Unit in the video that you pointed out is a Rocket (Cook) Stove, and as such is a step up from the 3-rock fires used by over 40% of the 7 Billion people on this

planet ! It is designed like the 3-rock fire it replaces as an outdoors use only. While it burns much more efficiently and cleanly than the 3-rock fire, the combustion

temperatures are considerably lower than the Rocket Mass Heater with its J-Bend feed and Heat Riser, with care these temporary units will last several days to more

than a couple months !

These Rocket (Cook) Stoves are loved by 'Prep-ers' Zombie Hunters and Survivalist types, If the only function they have is to be a proof that rocket stoves work,

and then one moves on to the Traditional design RMH, Then they serve a useful function and should be shared with potential Perma-culturists !

These rocket stoves don't bother me at all, I think they serve their purpose and can be a stepping stone. I just went outside to look at mine and it's 100% firebrick so that is probably why it never failed! There's no reason not to use the right material for a semi-permanent fixture except cost, I guess.

If it really bothers you (Allen & Matt) you could make one and video it becoming a flaming unit of death as a warning to people. I bet it'd get lots of hits on youtube! If you can't get it to become a flaming unit of death, then I guess that's useful to know too.

Might take a long time for it to become a flaming unit of death, although if you were bored.... I never get bored anymore, way too much to do. I do have a question though, are these people not building J tube burners instead of rocket stoves due to the lack of insulation in the riser? I don't think I have heard the roar on any of the videos I've watched but I don't know if it is because of size ratio problem or lack of insulation.

The idea of creating a pseudo home, something resembling a Rocket Mass Heater RMH, and do so without the Glorious expectation that I was creating
a Forever Home for a Perfect House Dragon to find and bless me with Its presence, actually both depresses me and causes a pain in my guts !
