I would like to see one million visitors come to permies.com in 2010.

I feel that the stuff we talk about here is important.  And that most people have no idea that permaculture exists.  So I kinda feel like getting a million people to come to the site to read something is something worth achieving.

Nearly every day I spend hours trying to come up with ways to let more and more people know about permies.com.  It is a big part of the driving force behind the videos.

So I make the videos, I visit similar sites and tell folks about permies, I post to mailing lists, I email folks one at a time.

Currently, we have had 308,189 visitors for 2010.  And we are not halfway through the year yet!  And, each month has more visitors than the previous month.

I think that if I keep at it, it is possible to hit a million for 2010.  I was looking at the stats today and thinking that I might be cresting with my abilities:  all of the work I am doing is bringing in the same amount of traffic for the last several weeks.  So if I stop working, then traffic will go down.  And if I keep working as is, then I won't make my goal.

Anybody have ideas and suggestions?

Do you post the videos on vimeo.com in addition to youtube?  I was at Ignite event yesterday and one of the presenters had stats that he got more views from vimeo than youtube.

Also, you might get more hits if you do some sort of viral marketing.  Like the companies that offer a prize to a random person who retweets about some event.

I have not posted to vimeo.  I had never considered that!

Please tell me more about the retweet contest.  Is there a link that describes such a thing?
