smaller pieces of pie than a single piece of pie

Currently, we sell a dozen pies for $100.   This makes a single piece of pie $0.69444  ... about 69 cents.

We are expanding on a lot of pie stuff and in the last couple of days I've been thinking it might be good to have something smaller ....   at first I thought about "a bite of pie" and then I rather liked the idea of a "plum nickel".

Suppose erica makes a pdf file and she wishes to sell it for a dime.  Paypal charges something like 3% + $0.35 per transaction.   So that won't work.

And then I wrote a lot a few years ago about how much I liked the idea of "plum nickel" where you could pay $20 for hundreds of nickels and then give nickels to all the web sites that were of great use.

There's the key:  buy $20 worth of nickels and then spread the nickels out over a year.

1/12th of a piece of pie is currently $0.05787 - if it was huckleberry pie, would that be one berry?

So my ideas are spinning all over the place.

I am also thinking about how with evan's first year here, he would post three pictures a day.  Good pics.  Fun pics.  And that sorta fizzled.   He would put three pics into one post.   I know that as I saw them, there were some pics where I would give him two apples, sometimes I would give him no apples, and most of the time I gave him one apple.  Sometimes I gave him pie too.  Maybe sometimes see a post by evan and they think it is good, but not pie-worthy.   Maybe half a piece of pie, or ... a berry?   A couple of berries?  If 20 people liked enough to give it a berry or two, maybe evan would build two pieces of pie per day.  Combined with a few full slices, evan might get back $100 per month for his pies - thus making it worthwhile for him to go back to doing his three pics a day.    Maybe all the ants will post more pics, and all sorts of people on permies will post pics, and videos and all sorts of stuff.  Maybe a lot of the people receiving pie will, instead of cashing it out, give it to posts that they like.

Currently, a single piece of pie is $2.  And if you buy twelve whole pies, a single piece is about $0.69.  But I always kinda thought that a single piece of pie would end up being about $2 when bought in quantity.  So maybe a single piece would be $3 and it would be $2 in quantity.  So this adds a bit more confusion to all of this.    So maybe there are 144 berries in a piece of pie (which sounds about right for huckleberries).  So if a piece of pie is about $2, then a single berry would be about 1.4 cents.

So might there be even smaller transactions?  Something less than 1.4 cents?

Maybe a pie feature could be that on the first moment of each month, to dole out pie to the contributors to all threads.   Maybe some guy could specify:   three pieces of pie, 20% to be divided between all authors and 80% divided between all of the thumbs up I gave.  Suppose he looked at a dozen threads a day and there was an average a dozen posts in each thread.  4320 posts.  So the smallest amount doled out would be 0.000138889 of one piece of pie.  An approxiamte value of 0.03 cents.  Of course, he would probably give a heavy poster more for their 300 posts that passed in front of him ...  a total of about 8.3 cents.   And if a dozen people did this, that person would receive a whopping $1.00 for their posts.  And with thumbs, that person might receive $10.  And with bits of pie, maybe $100.   Maybe receive it every month, month after month, even if they don't post anymore.

So, I suppose allowing teeny tiny crumbs of pie is also good.

I think I am answering my own questions.   We allow for freakishly tiny fractions of pie.

Further still, we say that there are 12 slices in a pie, 12 bites per slice and 12 berries per bite.   Just for entertainment.  But we can divide pieces of pie into something ridiculously tiny.  Pie dust particles.  In the case above, a person received 0.000138889 of one piece of pie.  And so far, that is the smallest I have been able to come up with.  Which happens to be 0.02 berries.

Can anyone think of other cases of teeny tiny specs of pie?  Tinier specs of pie?

Any other bits and bobs along these lines I might have overlooked?

It isn't quite ready yet, but the Lightning Network for Bitcoin will solve the technical side of this. It will allow you to send payments as small as a hundredth of a cent (or even smaller).
