Ok Ok, I remember the ant hill or maybe it was a yellow jacket nest I stepped in a few months ago, about this PIE thingy.  I still feel the way!!  But I really want to support Paul's vision and keep Permies going.  After searching old posts this morning looking for on going projects at the lab that need funding and not finding anything along those lines, I did find that Paul gets weird asking for money.  The man has enough on his plate, so I'll buy PIE.

The one thing I do like about PIE is giving PIE away.  Sooooooo, I'll buy three whole PIES each month so that I have some to give away.  I'll select a new member each day, with a few more thrown in from time to time and give them a slice of PIE.  The only thing I'll ask in return is that each person will give their slice away on the 29th or 30th day and if they like having PIE, then they will buy another slice. ( 3 dollars per slice, what a bargain at today's pricing )

I do hope that if another ICU type thing happens, Paul will again ask for help!  Please add me to the funding list for any upcoming projects.

Peace

Paul has been saying that the BEL program is currently the most vital of everything he has going on.  It directly incentivizes boots to join the bootcamp, stay in the bootcamp, and share all the stuff they do as part of the bootcamp.

I think a good way of thinking about funding Paul is:

- If you want to support all of Paul's efforts: Buy some of his stuff or support whatever kickstarter is running that year.

- If you want to support Wheaton Labs: Support the Bootcamp (via the BEL program)

- If you want to support permies: Buy PIE(Here's a thread I made a few years back about donating to permies via PIE)

And, if you are short on money, you can support permies by making good threads, answering zero Reply threads, helping answer people's questions, sharing knowledge and research, and helping out in the Tinkering forum when things need to be tested!

I do hope that if another ICU type thing happens, Paul will again ask for help!  Please add me to the funding list for any upcoming projects.

I really liked the Server Fundraiser. I think maybe it'd be neat to do one to improve the mobile view, or to get a mobile responsive normal design. I don't use mobile a lot, and I know some work has been done to improve it over the years, but it probably still needs some love. And that love would take a lot of time and money, and so it hasn't been able to happen!

It seems like in the last week there have been four different times that people have asked "where is the best place to put money for world domination?" And my answer is always "the BEL".  I feel like we have a mountain of stuff that I would like to get into more brains - and I have no idea how to do marketing.  The only thing I can think of is if we come up with, say, a new youtube video that goes viral.  And in order for us to have a new video that goes viral we need to make more stuff (and video that stuff).  Our best stuff isn't done yet and the only way we get it done with with boots in the bootcamp.  And having a fat BEL helps bring boots here, and helps keep them around.  It also loads us up with pictures and videos.

Next, people point out that i have not put out a podcast in a while.  And when I ask if they are supporting the podcast patreon they tell me why they can't.  If the podcast patreon thing were about three times fatter we would probably be putting out  two new pods a week.

Then people want more vids and i talk about the video patreon.  If that were about five times fatter, i think we would be putting out a new video every other day.

As is, all day every day is just attempts at navigating everything ...

Paul, thank you for the PIE.  But please stop, I want to help you with Permie stuff, you don't need to be giving me more PIE.

Beau & Nicole thank you both.  I know that I often sound and act as if I live under a big rock right next to nowhere (that does sound kinda nice), I gave up the credit cards in hopes that I could lighten my footprint on the web.  The only way I can help with Paul's vision is by writing checks, made out to him and I know he will use the money for the most urgent of his many projects.

Right, lighten my presence on the web!!!  That's a good one, after falling down this rabbit hole.

Peace
