Not sure why i am getting messages that my pie is about to expire. Last month I bought some more, and then I got the message again. Can someone tell me whats going on? You will get some pie for your help!

Because the pie only lasts one month, you get alerts about it expiring when it's the month that pie expires. Your pie will expire August 22nd, so I gather that's why you're getting notifications.

I know that when I had my pie expiring, I got four separate emails about it (on May 16th, 23rd, 28th, and 29th). That was five years ago, so maybe things have changed? But if they haven't, I wonder if maybe we could have settings in our profile to turn off those email reminders? Or maybe bring them down to just 2 reminders?

(No need to give me pie! Save it for someone else ♥)

Thanks! but but, since when do the pies expire in one month? The ones I bought first were something like... one year ago... Is this a new setting to keep people buying more pie every month?

As Nicole said, each slice of PIE will last only 30 days.

On the main forums page, in the upper right hand side of the page, you will see an envelope, bell and an image symbol with your name.  Click on the envelope, on that page near the top you will find in the first line, search/home/pie, and a bunch of topics stuff, click on pie, that should take you to a page listing all your PIE info, ie, date that your slice/slices will expire.

I buy PIE to help Paul pay the bills for this site.  I don't care very much for PIE, in life or on this site, which doesn't matter.  I believe in Paul's vision, so I will help with any new fund raising events and by ordering PIE each month.  I do enjoy giving PIE away.

You can also give away your PIE, as I do when the slice is about to expire.  This new person then has PIE to enjoy for 30 days.

Please, no PIE for me, or as Paul would say, not in the face, not in the face!

Peace

It's just one slice a month that expires, not the whole pie
...so a whole pie  lasts a year...12 slices.

I see the confusion if you bought a whole pie and the notice says 'pie' rather than 'slice of pie'.

I know that I get at least two emails about a week apart.

What that tells me is that I might lose my PIE features and the email is also a good reminder to give that piece of PIE to some just for being awesome.

Does the pie slice really revive for the recipient to a full month if we give it away at the last moment just before it expires?

I thought there was some sort of fail safe so we were only giving away our fresh slices of pie not partly used up ones?

No matter how old your pie is, it starts as a fresh piece when given to someone else. The expiration date of pie is based on the person receiving it. If you give away your very last slice of pie, it give the person you gave it to a whole month of pie. It will add a month to their pie membership.

The same applies if you give someone a piece of pie when you have multiple slices. BUT, giving it on it's last day when you have multiple pieces of pie, will result in you having less pie.

So, for example:

Johnny Smith has 1 slice of pie that expires the 9th of August. He gives it away to Mary Baker on August 8th. She gets another month of pie membership, and he ceases to have any pie.

BUT! If Johnny Smith had 2 pieces of pie, that expire the 9th of September, and he gives away one on August 8th, he will then have only one piece of pie, and it will expire on August 9th! So, in one day, he will have no pie. Mary Baker will still get another month of pie membership, but Johnny Smith might be bummed that he miscalculated and now only has one day left of pie membership, rather than a month and a day.

The pie expiration date just applies to how many pieces of pie you have. Each piece does not have it's own expiration date. So, if you want to game the system, give away the last piece of pie to someone right before it expires, and then buy more pie. But, you'll have to deal with lots of email notifications if you do that, so it might not be worth it....

Judith, Yes, that is my understanding of giving a slice away.  The recipient gets another full 30 days.  It could be the start of "Ever Lasting" PIE!!!

Peace

Note that this thing about old pie turning into new pie is a bug! We will fix this some day.  This means that people trying to game the system now, will someday be frustrated and angry- and I will giggle.

And then we will have to stop giving pie: who would want moulding pie ...

I think it's lovely when someone gives me pie. It's a nice tip o' the hat from a neighbour.

I also give it away as soon as I find a deserving poster. Pie makes things complicated. When I come across a post that has churned up from the depths and think "I can't believe I didn't 'like' that post!" I give it another hit, and every time it turns out I did 'like' it the first time. I suppose the second 'like' is another tip o' the hat from a neighbour, passing on a little bite of pie. Or something like that.

I bought myself a piece of pie so I could buy some $3 free heat (streaming)

And then I got to watch mud's presentation on rockets in greenhouses

So it's so much like having my pie and eating it too!

The best part is that I can't wait to give it away as steaming hot pie once more

I actually think that pie is one of the awesomest things on this site so please don't get rid of those flies bugs in the pie!

Yes, I will be buying pie, maybe a whole pie!

I get warm fuzzoes giving away pie

It's a bit like propagating kindness
