Awesome, Paul!

The urban permaculture podcast should satisfy my want for info on 1/4 acre design.

I'm also interested in the chicken podcast.  Can legally have only 2 hens here, but fresh eggs and free fertilizer make me happy.

Nice, thank you.

I don't have enough time to watch a thing right now but hopefully my schedule will ease up a bit soon. Looking forward to all of them Paul, thanks again.

As we were going down the road, Jocelyn used her blackberry to find your request for the topic.  So we put cast iron stuff back one .... pod.

pumped for 7-11.  i also said on facebook:  have you considered getting someone to cleanup some of the ambient driving noise?  it would make the listening experience a little better.

If I had a full time staff of five, I would have them do a hundred other things first, and then .... maybe ... put some thought into quality of sound.

For now, one of the things that convinced me to do this at all, was the idea that I did not need to worry one tiny bit about quality.

Thanks, Paul.

The cast iron is interesting to me too.  In fact, all of them are.

It looks like it's the right one on iTunes, but I can't figure out how to get the right version loaded to my iTunes library. I suspect that anyone who hasn't loaded them yet will not have any problem when they do, so I think it just became a personal problem for me. Oh well.

Edit:got it, I had to go to the itunes story podcast page and download that episode 'manually' but I've got it now.

I suppose that if we hear silence, then everybody thinks it sounds fine.  It is only when we hear complaints that we know that people don't like the way it sounds.

That's my guess.

It has been downloaded 563 times.  Has anybody actually listened to it?

In contrast, the previous podcast has been downloaded 1,406 times.  I have heard from two people that have listened to it.

Brice, I cannot remember what podcast are left that you are working on.  This is off the top of my head:

))) It seems I started with one when i was driving to the puget sound area
and using the pause button a lot.  I remember talking about a
comparitive analysis of fast food and a lot of other little topics.  I think I might have talked about forum management stuff.

))) The pig one.

))) There was one where I sat at a table with a bunch of folks at a farm.

))) Jocelyn and I did a review of "broken limbs"

))) Jocelyn and I review the "Atlas Shrugged" movie

Were there any others?

So, at least four.

And here are four that I have here that I haven't sent yet:

))) mac vs. pc

))) lost video footage recap (livestock guardian dogs; natives; respectful
harvest of a chicken)

))) permies questions

))) review of Geoff Lawton's Soils video

I have about 20 movies lined up to review for podcasts.  Plus some interviewees lined up.  And I was thinking it might be good to do some stuff with some of the permies and skype - so we could have some podcasts that are a bunch of us talking about a topic.

I emailed you three that I must have dropped somewhere along the line.

So you are about to put out

022  pigs

And then I sent you three, which, come chronologically before the farm table one:

023  ranting about bits and bobs while driving to puget sound
024  review of the movie "broken limbs"
025  review of the movie "atlas shrugged"

and then the farm table one you have:

026  farm visit to la bonita farm

And then there are the ones I have not moved to my computer yet - so you don't have yet:

027 mac vs. pc

028 lost video footage recap (livestock guardian dogs; natives; respectful
harvest of a chicken)

029 permies questions

030 review of Geoff Lawton's Soils video

----------------------------------------------

From my perspective, I cannot fathom why anybody would want to listen to any of this, so I need some feedback.  Which style do you folks like best?  Answering questions?  Covering a topic?  Reviewing a movie?  Interviewing?  I'm guessing that my in-car rants are the worst.

Maybe the thing to do is to ask those that have listened to at least 10:  which are your three favorites?

Jack Spirko started/built is whole show on in-car rants, and it has been wildly successful and informative.  I enjoy listening to your rants, off topic and discussions and rants bring out a lot of info that is not normally repeated in your permies posts lectures, or your videos.  I think these little tid bits can be very informative and easily missed without doing a podcast.

I really enjoy the interview / Round Itable talks with Helen and others. I think that they bring out a lot of great info.

I also think that a listener question shows could be really great!  Maybe you can take a few random permies threads you like, and make a thread specifically for question for podcasts.  Take 6-12 questions or so and make a hour long podcast, it would help keep fresh material too.

I really appreciate the  podcast Paul, and I hope that you keep doing lots of  them!

Hi Brice,
Paul asked me to help him with the podcasts, and suggested I coordinate with you. I put 023 up today on organic fast food, which you processed (thanks!). I will upload another in a couple days that is 024 unless you beat me to it, in which case I'll do the next number up:)

Paul,

I have loved listening to your podcasts.  The ones I have enjoyed the most are#15-Helen Atthowe, #14 Chickens, also #20 about pigs.

I like hearing about practical applications to problems even though they may not pertain to my particular situation.  I live in the mountain west.  It is great to hear about the thought processes of other region to get my brain working.

How about more in depth to the ideas you have.  People like specifics and not broad generalities like raising pigs naturally.  It sounds like a great idea.  What did you feed? how often?  Did you have to supplement?  How so?  Were there any legal problems like Salatin had?  Or did your customers even care?  Why pigs? why not cattle? why not all vegetables?  A method to the madness helps all of us who are on level 9 or 10 understand a little more.

Maybe how are you going to start your place up in Montana when you get the land.  What are you going to do first? why? how are you going to do it?

I am less interested in movies.  I am more interested your opinion of the doing of permaculture.  Maybe some permaculture things you do not like that you see people doing.  What are things that you consider good but maybe not permaculture.  You had mentioned rain barrels as not permaculture, but are they something to consider?

I agree with the above that your rants are what make you "you".  Rants are great just try to stay on topic.

My land is dry where do I start?
My land is wet where do I start?
Hugelkultur is great, what if I have grassland?  Do I haul in the wood or use what I have?
Guilds?
Good species of trees to plant in a mountain area? wet? dry? coastal?

All of these are tropics which can become a podcast or an interview.

Love the great job you are doing and all the hard work you put into the site.
