Hi All;
Sipping my coffee this morning and I got a hankering for some fresh scones …. HMMM good!
Here's the recipe so you can have some as well.
2.5 cups flour
1 tb baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
Cut in up to 8 tb of cold butter, I use goat butter & A-2 milk for liz's allergy. Cut in to corn meal consistency.
Mix in 1/3 cup sugar add 2/3 cup of milk.
Knead into round ball. Place on greased baking sheet, slowly press dough down , keeping the round shape. Any thickness will do, I try for about 1" or so, they will rise when baked.
Use a pizza cutter (or knife) and segment scones up. I use a butter knife to free them from each other and from the pan. Ready to pop in the oven.
425 F for 12 minutes at the top of your oven. Thicker scones might need a few minutes longer.
ENJOY !

Why Thank You Alyssa! I made a fresh batch yesterday , and I am enjoying one with my coffee as I write.
The availability of A-2 milk is on the rise here in the north west! Hooray! So many people have this allergy and they do not realize it.
I wish I had a camera the first time Liz took a great big swallow of icy cold A-2 milk … and the smile on her face when she realized her nose was not running and her belly wasn't off !
We have been enjoying wonderful meals again with butter and milk ever since !

Hey Jolene; Yes, they will bake up just fine in a wood cook stove oven. Be sure to separate from the pan and each other, before baking. It is pretty easy to see from the side if they are not fully cooked yet.
As a side note; If you left out the sugar. These are baking powder biscuit's.
