Hey All,

I've been looking for some work boots and can't find what I'm looking for. I love the men's boots I find, but they don't come in my size. I'm looking for pull on, comfy soles, and tall (around 12") to give some protection from the cacti and the snakes. I am outside of Tucson. Any suggestions?

Nancy

Hi,
I'm not aware of a great "pull-on" style but U.S. Army surplus Belleville, hot weather-style tan desert boots are great. This is by no means the cheapest or best link, but it gives a good idea of the models out there: https://uspatriottactical.com/desert-tan-tactical-military-boots/. You can order any in men's sizes (it's just 2 less to equal a woman's size, i.e., I wear a 7-1/2 woman's and a 5-1/2 men's). My only concern is that if you are wanting protection from snakes, the desert boots might not offer enough of a barrier, the uppers on most have a good bit of mesh to allow for breathing. I'm still a big fan of my basic combat boots that are all leather, paired with a good insole pad, they are still my go-to boot.
Regards,
Denise

My daughter and I wear Palladium leather boots. They’re incredibly comfy and durable and waterproof and they clean up easy. I’ve had mine for 5 years and they’re still kicking. We have cholla and prickly pear everywear and I’ve never gotten poked and I don’t even watch where I walk most the time. Just saw a rattler yesterday and even though these boots are about 2” above the ankle I think I’m going to concoct some leather shin guards for extra protection.

I always buy men's boots and shoes as women's shoes have a smaller toe box.

Our daughter buys boys boots because her size is too small for men's.

I like my Ariat Heritage Ropers for working outside. Mine are at least 5 years old and still trucking along, though not as waterproof as they were.

Thanks for your feedback. I tried on the ropers, but really want something taller. I have some uncomfortable old cowboy boots that are tall (12" maybe), and i'm used to feeling that protection all the time. And those tie-on ones look like too much work. I am in and out of the house many times a day and take them off each time. Maybe I need to re-think this and keep them on in the house. I don't like the mess, and love the convenience of the pull on boot. i followed the links to the pull on snake boots, but they only had large men's sizes. I'll keep looking and add to this thread if I find anything.

I found some tall ones at Wal-Mart, which look almost like those from my youth, but they are made with some rubbery plastic instead of leather. They have a pretty good grip, though. Not as good as leather, but it will do until I find the right kind! I am going to try to paint them with something that will give them a better grip! You can order them from https://rockroosterfootwear.com/collections/wedge-sole-boots. Their most significant advantage is the price and quality. I never had any problems with them while working.
