Hello Fellow Permies,

This is Dre Oeschger.  I have been hired to work with Patrick at Truly Garden to help grow his brand.  We are looking for more Permies to help promote a couple of new products. You were a ton of help with the Hori Hori Garden Knife as well as the Pruners (coming back into stock soon), Folding Garden Knife & Toolbelt (back in stock now!).

We have two brand new products available.  A 3 Piece Indestructible Hand Tool Set and a 2 Gallon Bucket Organizer.  These can be purchased separately or as a package.

The key to success on Amazon is in the product reviews.  You have been quite helpful in the past with providing the initial push of reviews necessary to launch our other products successfully.  If you would like a coupon sent to you so that you can Buy One & Get One Free (BOGO) please contact me via andrea@trulygarden.com or purple mooseage.  In exchange for this discount I will politely remind you to leave a fair & honest review of the product(s) you have purchased and possibly offer additional candy as well.

Here is how it works:
- Contact me via andrea@trulygarden.com or purple mooseage
- I will email you back a unique one-time code
- Go to Amazon.com and add two of either the hand tools, bucket organizer or the set and after entering your unique coupon code, one of them will be free!
- After you get your new products, please post a review on your thoughts quickly - within 1-2 days
(You can always go back and edit your review later)
- Let us know that you have posted a review.
- Note: I will (politely) pester you until you tell me you have posted the review
- I ask that you not resell any Truly Garden products on the internet - Amazon, Ebay, Etsy, etc.
- Only (1) Buy One Get One Free coupon per person (I can give you another discount if you want to buy more)
- If you have a blog, I would love if you post a link to the product.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, fellow Permies!

Andrea

I love Truly Garden products! I won one of the headlamps years back in a giveaway here on permies, and it is still  doing fantastic! It holds it's charge really well and is very bright. It is still our favorite headlamp!

The hori hori is also really handy. I had some people over touring my garden, and when I offered them divisions of my lovage and chevril, the hori hori was the PERFECT tool for the job. It cut very precisely and removed just the amount that I wanted to without damaging the rest of the plant.

I use the pruning sheers daily--I love having them attached to my hip. I use them to prune my trees, prune back blackberries, and even chop and drop mulch (not the most efficient tool for the job, but since I always have them on
me, using them is much faster than going back to the house for a sickle!)

Nicole or OP, how is the sheath of the hori doing, and is it leather or fabric? Which one will last the longest?

I bought a hori at a trade fair. Not this one. While it works well, the sheath lasted about 2 weeks. Which translates to me losing the hori any day now.  Lol

Looking at this one compared to mine, this one has a depth guage and looks like it has a full tang. Mine is a half tang which concerns me about breaking.

Last question. Mine is carbon steel, this one is stainless? Is there any concern with it breaking by prying up a rock? I had this happen with stainless steel. It seems that stainless wants to break rather than bend.

Hori's are great tools! It can replace a sheathed knife in many cases. Like cutting the wrapping off of a round bale. If one was made about a third smaller i would make it my daily carry knife.

We carry both a leather sheathed Hori Hori as well as a nylon sheathed Hori Hori.    I personally like the leather sheathed Hori Hori better, but both sheaths are well made.  The leather sheath listing comes with a diamond sharpening rod vs. a sharpening stone, and I find it easier for keeping the serrated edge sharp (although the edge of the stone can be used to sharpen the serrations as well with a little finesse).

I will say that the leather sheath is made with a belt loop and the nylon has a clip.  That could influence your decision based on how you prefer to wear your sheath.

The Truly Garden Hori Hori does have a full tang as well as a depth guage.  Stainless steel can snap when it is over tempered.  We strive at manufacturing to avoid this problem and back our product with a 5 year warranty in the unlikely event that it does happen.  This warranty would also cover any defects with your sheath.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Thanks. I'll order the leather. If it works good i may reshape my carbon steel version into a smaller knife.

Would the coupon apply just buying these two items? Or could I buy say this new tool set and use coupon for other item such as folding garden knife? That would make it possible to leave 2 reviews instead of one.

The coupon is good for two of the same item.  Our hope is that you will have a friend that you can give it to and maybe another review might come our way.  We very much appreciate reviews on any of our products.  Right now, we need to focus on getting our new products launched successfully so that more people will have eyes on them on Amazon.

If you would really like a folding garden knife as well, I would be happy to send a separate discount for that.  This BOGO, however, is strictly for our three new products.

I love my horihori knife from trulygarden! I'm sorry I did not write a review yet though.
I bought a second one for our son who used the first one a lot and did break it just a few months ago.  I bought him another this august for his birthday along with the folding knife. I gave him my  grafting tool that I had already bought but had not used yet also.  He gives the hori hori knife high marks and feels like he was pushing it's limits prying a rock (who knows how large it was ?).  The other knives he has not used yet but they feel well made and heavy like they will last.

I also have the pruners and am happy with them.  My old fiscars have a tool for tightening and loosening nuts and things which would be a nice addition when you carry the pruners again.

I appreciate the quality leather holders for both the pruners and the horihori knife but I never use them!  I don't wear a belt or things with waistbands that would hold the weight so it's never been a possibility.  I even have to hang my water container for scythe stones on a nearby fence instead of a belt when I'm scything.  So far I have only 'lost' my knife once and was able to retrace my path and there it was stuck in the dirt like I try to leave it.    Unfortunately this is not the case for my husband's sickle...we're afraid it got covered in mulch and is lost until spring.

I should clarify.  The three new items that you are able to get two (of the same item) for the price of one are either the 3 Piece Indestructible Hand Tool Set, the 2 Gallon Bucket Organizer or a combination set that includes both of these items.  So, you could, in fact, get two of each if you bought the combination set.  We would very much appreciate reviews spread throughout though.  You can see all three of these items through this link

The hori knife is excellant.

I reaaly really like the sharpener that came with the combo i got. It's small enough to keep in my toolbox and should work for more than the hori.

The sheath is made so that the guard hits the sheath, keeping the point from digging into the stitching on the bottom. Great design!

I just received the hand tool set, and these tools are outstanding.  The surfaces are all well-rounded so they won't cause hot spots (and the accompanying blisters) on your hands.  They are very sturdy and should last for generations rather than years.  Really excellent job by Truly Garden.
