[wanted] Wild rice (Zizania aquatica) fresh seeds, Poland

I'm looking for a fresh, able to sprout seeds of wild rice (Zizania aquatica). A small amount that can be sent by mail in envelope in a flat ziplock bag will do. Will cover seeds and shipping cost via Paypal.

Just curious... could you sprout any organic packaged wild rice from Minnesota or Canada? The wild rice that I cook from a bag looks just like this wild rice from this company that specializes in "sprouts:"

Lundberg organic wild rice is about $11/pound here in the US. Sprouting wild rice sounds like a nice winter project....

I have tried that several times, and no single dry rice seed has ever sprouted for me. According to the publications, the seeds have to be fresh, not dried in order to sprout. So far I haven't found these anywhere with option of shipping to Poland.
In the link you have posted, the seeds were not only dried, but roasted as well, so no chance to get a live plant out of them unfortunately.

Once they're parched they won't grow.  Those "sprouting" ones just appear to be regular wild rice.  When you soak it, it swells up and maybe that's what they're calling "sprouted".

I do just happen to have some wild rice from this past fall that I haven't parched or processed yet.  It's been sun dried and is sitting in a bag in my porch.  So it's been dry and frozen.  I'm not sure if that would hinder its germination?  I'm also not sure how to do a germination test on something that needs to sit underwater for a winter before it sprouts....

Hi Mike, many thanks for your offer, but I think sun dried seeds will not work :( This is what I have found about them:

"Dry seed is dead seed. Keep the seed moist and free of mold before planting."

I think I have to ask for these seeds earlier in the season when they can be collected from the plant and sent immediately.

This is a different (Asiatic) species but thank you for the link.
