How to make your own colloidal silver at home.

Searched Permies and its not posted anywhere.

To your, and your animal's health!

Hope this works, embedding the video I mean.

Should this be posted under medicinal herbs or someplace else on Permies too?

At uncautious dosages, it should be listed under Toxic Gick.

It definitely has its uses, but the mechanism of action is silver toxicity, if I remember correctly. There are historical cases of people with silver-grey skin as a result of colloidal silver poisoning.

It is used in some horticultural circles to produce feminised seeds from unfertilised female plants, but that's only a niche application.

Still, I would like to hear anyone's anecdotes of its use and usefulness. Thanks for this, Lee.

Colloidal silver has been a Godsend, in our family. My daughters and hubby are both severely allergic to penicillin, and one of those daughters is equally allergic to sulfa drugs. I don't think colloidal silver belongs in the toxic gick category, because it takes crazy amounts of the stuff, to become 'poisoned' by it. We've used it for sinus infections (via inhaler), fevers that have gone too long, or dangerously high, eye washes, and wound washes. It's never failed us.

I know three people who's enthusiasm for colloidal silver has left them a lilac shade of grey.....it may be a godsend to some, but, "Once you go gray it don't go away!"......
And I believe it continues to accumulate in your skin after you cease /decrease dosage.
That is to say; you take it for a while, and notice it starting to leave traces, and stop taking it, and you continue to darken.

That's not to say I would never take it, but it would be exceedingly rare, or a last resort, when all else failed.

For men, one thing that seems worthy of consideration is Prostate health, because the prostate has NO circulation, and very limited means to flush depositions of heavy metals, it seems like a possible shortcut to urinary misery,
While not Silver per se, several welders of my acquaintance with a great deal of experience welding on Cadmium, or Zinc rich galvanizing compounds are suffering from prostate cancer, all of their doctors agree the most likely culprit is heavy metal accumulation via breathing in the vapors.

YMMV but for me, barring a total breakdown of medical science, this is a therapy I intend to remain curious about!

Maybe dosage is the issue. We've been using the stuff on a very limited basis - especially ingesting it, and I'm not one to use any form of antibiotic, on a regular basis, or in excess. But, our family gave been using the stuff for over 30yrs, with no problems.

Hmm I don't know what people are doind with it to turn grey. In our house we keep it in a spritz bottle and it is used topically on the inside of the throat when nasty throat bugs are starting to present. Never used more than 6 or 8 spritzes over the course of a few days. Its definitely helped knock back some impending throat ickiness for us.

It's mainly the panaceic reaction. Someone hears that such-and-such is good against anything, and so it goes on anything, frequently, and at high doses.

When people do this with something like diatomaceous earth in their smoothies, turmeric in their food, or Sea90, say, the potential for it to go off the rails is limited, with perhaps some diarrhea or constipation, a little stomach upset. When it is done with something toxic in high doses, or that accumulates over time, however, this mentality and behaviour can be dangerous.

I recently listened to a story on the radio about an old Cuban woman's love affair with Vicks Vapo-Rub, or as she calls it, "Vickicito." It was used on everything, for every reason, even those that the manufacturer specifically warned against. In her case, there was no fallout except perhaps persistent criticism that the post-shower bathroom smelled overmuch of her vickicito after she used it as a whole-body liniament, and maybe a little indigestion when accidentally swallowed after use as a treatment for gingivitis (which didn't work, by the way). But in this era of bio-hacking, body-hacking, and downright anti-rational thought, people come up with some pretty incredible ideas.

For any out there using colloidal silver, please just be careful when using this internally or externally in any quantity.

For photos of  Silver over dosage Google "argyria" Most of the pics are of extreme cases, but it is a cumulative problem.
If you accept Wikipedia's results the condition can result from either a single massive overdose, or long term low level dosage.
When true silver was used in dental amalgam many people used to suffer from it, and the (usually, not so) grey skin was attributed to "dissipation" FWIW many of the people I know with true silver caps are the same ones that claim they never get sick........
To the limit of my research no one has attempted any rigorous test to correlate heavy metal accumulation and prostate cancer.
Still one of the good things about the human immune system is it overcomes and develops immunity via exposure,
I'm unsure of the efficacy of any uber antibiotic.

My gut reaction is - you're trading placebo benefits for blood toxicity.  ...but I'll do a quick check on the scientific literature...

"The adverse effects of chronic exposure to silver are a permanent bluish-gray discoloration of the skin (argyria) or eyes (argyrosis). Most studies discuss cases of argyria and argyrosis that have resulted primarily from exposure to the soluble forms of silver. Besides argyria and argyrosis, exposure to soluble silver compounds may produce other toxic effects, including liver and kidney damage, irritation of the eyes, skin, respiratory, and intestinal tract, and changes in blood cells."

Oh, some folks did mention that topicaly is not aweful as a wound dressing.  It actually does something thats not bad!  You wont catch me eating money for placebo tho.
