I'm reading a book about deterring deer, having moved into deer territory. One of the plants that may repel them is an old favorite of mine, Russian sage-perovskia atriplicifolia. I'd LOVE to have some again, and mine suckered like an octopus, and I gave away starts by just cutting off a sucker and digging them up. Wondering if anyone has rowdy plants they'd be willing to dig me some suckers off of. I can pay shipping.
I'm trying to think if I have anything interesting to trade. I do have some tie dye type pattern silk scarves around, left from last time I was selling them. If you look at my profile, the background picture is one of them, if that style is interesting, I can find pictures of some I have.
Hoping someone wants to prune off suckers for me!!
Russian thistle is tumbleweed.
Russian sage looks like this:
I miss mine, and deer seem to not like highly fragrant things, and that is intensely fragrant. I am hoping to put it around my baby fruit trees (as well as a ring of fence) to protect them.
I've got a couple, and they are the most invasive plants in my yard. They're in clay that has had rain water once in the last six months, I don't know how they survive. They aren't looking as full this year because they literally don't get watered , but I probably have some suckers I could dig up today (we're going to have our first freeze here tomorrow so I've got to do a lot out in the yard anyway). I'll post some pictures later today if I can dig some up worthy of shipping, and if you're interested I'd be happy to send them your way. The biggest problem will be if I can dig through the dry clay to get them. Normally I torch the runners.

This picture is a couple of years old. I'm pretty sure it's Russian Sage. It smells nice. The honey bees love it.
rosemary might work too. I used to grow a lot of rosemary and left in the ground they grow into large bushes but I'm much farther south of where you are.

Yeah, sounds good. Just noticed you wrote this in the spring! :)
Of course you'll have to post again, or pm me to remind me.
Bump! I'm still hoping people have excess! I really think it will deter the deer due to it's heavy fragrance. I'm putting in a garden on the property, and want to get at least some of the produce for myself :)
I put out sweet potatoes a couple years ago. Mistake.... Eaten to the ground.
