giving away my encyclopedia of country living

In celebration of the up and coming earth day, I'm giving away my copy of "The Encyclopedia of Country Living" by Carla Emery.    I'm planning on replacing it with the final, 10th edition.  Final, because Carla died a few years back.

This book is HUGE!  And contains mountains of detailed information on preserving food, beekeeping, animal husbandry, gardening ...  everything a homesteader needs!

I wanna do this like what we do with the book promotions.  On April 22 (earth day) I will run my little winner picker program that will pick four posts, at random, from this forum (general homesteading) from today through April 21.  I will then pick the one out of those four that seems like the best:  a good question, a good link, a good answer, a great picture, or ...  whatever!  That person will get my book!

So, the more you post, the better your chances of getting my book!

I have my own copy, so make sure someone else gets it!

I just checked  my vast stack of books on everything from underground homes to building your own windmill and I cannot believe I don't own a copy of Carla's book.

I have always wanted this book! and for some reason never made the purchase.

Wow.

I will now replace my Back to Basics and Finding and Buying your place in the Country that are currently in the bathroom.   

It was just a couple of years ago when I saw an interview of her and she was talking about how she spends a couple of hours in her garden every day...pulling a few weeds for the chickens, planting a few seed and harvesting a little for the day's meals...and never tilling her garden, just keeping it rotated and planted year round.

I have done almost the exact same thing every day since...(Easy to do in Arizona). Hey wasn't she from Arizona? Something else always stuck in my mind about her...if I remember correctly, I think it was Carla... she also mentioned that she saved her urine and threw it out in her garden...now I have never done that! ...well I might have peed on a tree by the garden?? Does that count? It's steril right? 

But she was amazing for sure...left us way too early....what a great resource.
