Hello,
I’m new here but figured I’d try. It’s hard to date when in the back of your mind you know what you truly want in life may not match with most people. They like cities and fancy things but I yearn to get back to nature and do things naturally, even if it is the hard way. I want to labor for myself and not my corporate masters.

Yes I will someday be forced to go it alone if I never meet anyone like minded. But I sure do hope he is out there! Until then I’m practicing my skills at home and soaking up all the knowledge I will need one day out there in my off-grid home.

Are you within a reasonable age of me? Age is not an issue for me unless it is over a decade apart. Then it may be a bit hard to bridge that gap. Obviously chemistry is important too. Most importantly, I need someone who can capture my mind and my heart and will not be quick to ruin something that can take a long time to grow. I am looking for the distance and want it to last.

Hope to hear from anyone even for a word or two of encouragement. Greetings from Arizona!

I'm not seeking a partner right now but I can definitely offer you those words of encouragement. I feel the same way as you, learning what I can with the goal of moving to a home I build on the slow path, my path, in tune with nature.  In the coming months, more people will come to feel that way.  So I'm confident you'll find like-minded people.  And you have amazing bunnies, what's not to love?  :)

Hi Heather, I know you think I am to old and that's OK, but if you want to talk and want to see some different land for off grid living I am only 75 miles from Arizona.

Can't help you myself as I have two partners already and don't live in Arizona, but as a fellow rabbit caregiver, I will tell you there is definitely somebody out there for you! You're gorgeous and you know what you want. I'm confident someone out there will want a woman with determination, grit, and great looks. And once you find them, then you get 2 more bunnies!!! 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰

Wishing you luck and love from Massachusetts

Hi Heather
My name is Tom, and I am so in tune with what you have written.
I was born and raised in Germany, and I have lived in Canada now for 25 years, half of my life, and I came here with that goal in mind, to live on and from my own l land and labour.
Live came in between, I got married and she was not interested in this life style, which I found out too late. I am divorced since 2011 and my kids are pretty much grown up, therefore I am now free and ready to follow my dreams.
With this insanity going on around the world, I feel that it is already 5 past 12, and I need to make a move soon, as I feel less and less to be fitting into this society of following sheep...
I would like to hear more about you.
Sincerely,
Tom

Hello Heather,

I know what you mean- I worked corporate for many years in the IT sector, travelled the world as an IT officer for a very luxurious cruise line for several, searching, just searching...having this itch to get out of the city permanently and really find my peace... I still work in IT but for a non profit org now, at least the mission is more heartfelt.

4 years ago I finally found myself on a land up in the mountains.  Yep, got my 20 acre slice of a beautiful mountain plateau in Central WA close to the Canadian border (i live north of Seattle). It came with a small cabin that I've converted into a tiny home, but planning to build soon.  The mountains have always had an effect on me growing up- family trips to a mountain resort for a few summers, enjoying the outdoors- camping, kayaking, snow activities, just being in touch with nature.

There's a very small percentage of women that are daring enough to seek the kind of lifestyle I'm pursuing (sigh), and I don't really consider myself a hardcore homestead type of guy. I'm more of a modern homesteader- planning a sustainable lifestyle, grow veggies, have some chickens, goats to chew down pine grass, plenty of cattle ranchers around for beef, and, whatever else paints the canvas but not quite fully off grid- I do like technology.  I work hard, cut down trees and chop wood, pretty good handyman I must say, i like tinkering with my hands.  Quite a mechanic too, just rebuilt my car... sure i can buy a new one but where's the fun with tinkering there- plus the knowledge is invaluable.

I also have family in AZ- Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa... been there many times when i lived in CA before moving up here in the PNW.  Anyway, all the best with your search and if you want  to connect, just shoot me an email at reyr24@yahoo.com.

Cheers.
Rey

Hi Heather, you have a great way of thinking. I myself have been told that I was born in the wrong era. For years I thought about moving to Alaska and going off grid. My problem is that some of the things I enjoy doing require power ( welding). I am however currently working on at least trying to be somewhat self reliant. I have a small farm where I grow my own veggies, I have chickens for eggs. Next on my list is to get more chickens, qual, pheasants, then livestock. I am trying to learn about composting and getting my soil better using natural methods. I am going to visit Joel Salatin and also have been talking with Justin Rhodes here in NC. Yes I am in NC but I am interested in meeting a like minded woman than is up for the challange. I would like to talk more with you however I really am not sure with posts read by everyone. Oh and just so your wondering I am 52 years young. Yes I say young because most people can't keep up with my work ethic. I would be glad to share a pic with private conversation. What are your thoughts on children?

Hi. Hope you find what you're looking for. I myself just purchased land in southern colorado and decided why go it alone. The property is empty right now so it is going to be an adventure starting out, but my plans are made and everything should go smoothly.
That person you are looking for is out there, don't give up!

Hi Heather!

Thanks for putting yourself out there. I'm 53, on the upper end of your ten-year acceptable range.

I started my homestead and permaculture projects young... built a passive solar stone and log home without a mortgage thirty years ago, and later installed solar panels to run the meter backwards. I was married for 21 years and raised four children, who are all out of the nest. My marriage ended a decade ago.

Being self-employed with few bills has given me oodles of freedom to pursue my dreams as a homesteader, writer, and adventurer, and I'm super easy to get along with. That would seem like an asset in dating, but not really. I'm so deeply rooted here that it is challenging to create a new life with a new partner when I already have an established home and career. I've been off the dating sites for some time, but if I were to sign up for one, I would look at a Latina dating site. You are definitely a 10 on my chart!

Please take a look and reach out if you want to connect:

  Hi Heather,

My name is Jose, I share some of your same thoughts.  I

am 40 years old and live about an hour south of

Chicago. I am a hardworking, strong , and handsome

man. There was a time when I desired fancy things, but I

have come to learn that is not important, it only brings

unnecessary stresses. I appreciate simple hard work,

clean eating, peace and serenity. I believe our bodies

needs these to stay healthy, mentally and physically.  I

too would like to find a like minded partner that I can

grow with and experience the rest of this with.

Hope to hear from you soon,
                               Sincerely,  Jose

Hey Heather, I'm not too old (we're eight years apart, you're my senior). I'm probably too far away though. My family and I drove through Arizona when I was a boy. I was big into collecting bones, and saw a skull in the desert. A minute out in the daytime sun on the sand was a minute I'll never forget, because I never experienced a more extreme form of dry heat! I'm in NC and I think you're just lovely! You're bunnies they r a rockin! Your sentiments are mine as to what is important in life. I think you'll get so many guys messaging you you'll have to defend yourself with a stick! God bless and many good lucks,
Joseph, or JOE

Update on June 2021:
Still looking to share that dream 😊
I spent a year building up my savings but feel I need a heck of a lot more before I take the plunge if I’m all alone at it. So I’ll keep working on my learning of skills and I’m sure one day I’ll connect with the right fella.

Well darling I'm older than you. But I can give you some info , ideals if any will help your I'm a off grid veteran. I live off grid several places . Off grid living isn't for everyone . You have to want it and have it in your blood . I was raised up off grid pretty much evan when I was a kid. I was hoping to find a off grid friend ,partner, but it may not be one of my paths , but maybe help others down their paths. The world is getting ruthless out there, and that's why I am were I'm at. In order to survive, you have to have the place to survive. And it's better to survive with someone , then alone. But that's why community s for all ages are good too. But I hope you find what your looking for as well as mysel

I don’t have any set and fast requirements because life is hard to predict and so I must be flexible. Ideally it’s not dangerously excluded from civilization with some decent creature comforts that I see are possible for others living off grid. Everyone has their own implementation of it because it works for them. At the minimum, I’m no longer living in a big city and dependent upon big city jobs to sustain me.

Hello Heather,

I have been on this site several years now planning my departure from the corporate world. I am ready now...  I retired early over a year ago to travel with my camper and focus on my search for land to make my own little Eden. Bam !, along came COVID and sidetracked my plan. So, I spent last year assisting family through some medical struggles and building a tiny home to replace my sisters broken down 80s single wide trailer. I am resuming completion of a remodel to sell my current home in a small town in Southern Illinois to move further into the country.  My initial plans were to find property in the Ozarks which is still an option, however I am looking for a life partner as well, and it seems would be prudent to include her input in the search.  Not only because its easier to live off the grid but it is my equal and great desire to find my soulmate. You express the same desires I have to abandon the consumerism and reliance on the modern luxuries to which we've enslaved ourselves. I have experience with a fairly extensive skill set for independent living; including masonry, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, solar, automotive repair, hunting, fishing, first aid.  I am not as experienced in agriculture, however I am learning more now until I can plant a garden. I would welcome discussion with you about your desires and readiness to pursue your goals.  Perhaps we can help each other. If you are interested I would love to hear from you even if its strictly platonic. I am always interested in sharing ideas or resources as well.
