Login link query

Sorry if this has already been posted - I did have a look and couldn't easily find anything relevant.
Background: I usually use my tablet for web work, despite it's annoying keyboard, but it is not set up for my email.  I recently joined the forum, didn't bother with password, but once I leave I can't get back in on my tablet: I just get a message saying a link has been sent to my email, so I have to get on the PC to get the link to get on the forum.  It's just a bit of a pain.
What am I missing?  If I set up a password could I get right in?

If you set up a password, you can simply log in by entering your email address and password. - no need to go through login links.

On the other hand, if you don't manually log out from permies on your tablet, you should be able to stay logged in on that device for a long time - like for months.

Yes Devaka, I've typed the link on my tablet and it is remembering me now.  Not sure whether it will like me if I log on to a PC as well (I flip between shop PC, home tablet, and home PC).  I think I'll set up a password anyhow, then hopefuly I can logon anywhere.
