Just before COVID hit, my husband and I had decided what the perfect party to give for folks was: a soup and bread party. Casual, help yourself buffet with kindly guests. Seemed like the perfect party food: had to be prepped way beforehand. Almost everyone likes some kind of soup or bread.

Various things and COVID killed the idea.

But I'm curious, I know what I had in mind, but I'm  just one person. I make these:

Cold
spinach/avocado soup
Gazpacho

Hot:
resh corn
Beans & Greens (lentil soup with carrot greens)
Potato cheese
Onion soup (my style, has chicken broth)
Corn cheese chowder
Chicken noodle
Tomato basil

Bread
sourdough
biscuits
corn
whole grain
white

So, if it was your party, what would you serve ?

Our favorite soups are:
Broccoli Cheddar
Clam Chowder
Posole
Minestrone
Chicken Noodle
Matzo Ball
Pasta E Fagioli
Pistou with Lentils
Loaded Potato
Chicken Tortilla

The posole and chicken tortilla wouldn't be served with bread, but the others would or could be.

Breads that I serve with soup are:
Sourdough
Foccacia
and lately I've been making a new pull-apart rolls that are like Parker House rolls, but it uses the tangzhong technigue and copious amounts of sour cream and chives. They are to die for. It's a Bon Apetit recipe.

If you would like any recipes, just let me know.
