I would like to see an operating R.M.H.
somewhere close to me in North Carolina or in southern Virginia....
I am in Winston-Salem....
I believe in all of the information I have read to date, BUT, I'm a married man...
I cannot convince my S.O. ( significant other ) that we should head down this path.....
I do have a "heatalator" fireplace inserted in my masonry fireplace....but as anyone who may have had one knows, they eat wood like there is a never ending supply....
Yes it heats, but it takes a lot of wood to keep it fed, and a large amount of heat goes up that 12 x 12 flue to keep the smoke out of the house....
And I'm getting tired of chopping wood... And LP gas is $5.25 a gal. delivered....
So.....is there anybody close to me that would allow me to see their installation, and allow me to bring my stubborn wife along...

Hopefully there is an installation near me....

Thank you
Joe B.

Well Joe;
I hope you can find a working RMH closer to home BUT....
If you want to take a road trip. I have three you can view. Just down the road apiece...  country mile... OK western Montana but its really nice here.

Hopefully there will be several in your local neck of the woods!
Those are crazy propane prices!  We are currently paying 1.70 a gal delivered, and that is up from $1.50!

Joe B. -  I am in the same boat as you.  I want to see a Rocket Mass Heater in action before I head down that route.  I'm in Central VA.  Let me know if you find a working one in driving distance.  Patty

Hey Joe B!

We are in Union, SC— I just finished installing a heavy-duty drop seal for floor support and will be building out our RMH over the next 2+ weeks. We’re also welcoming the latest addition to our family over the next few weeks so selling my wife on having visitors before April(ish) may be a bit of a challenge… I’ll post videos of the build once I’ve got them

Cheers

Patty, welcome to the forum!

The Central Virginia Permaculture Institute in Petersburg VA has a video of a RMH on their Facebook page.

Are they close to you?
