Is there a way to lime water eggs that you wash?

I have a question about lime water eggs for preserving.. I know everything I seen said do not wash you eggs but is there a way to wash them and maybe coat them in oil or wax then put them in the lime water solution? I am getting a ton of eggs but so many are dirty and I change the bedding!

I have never been in this situation. If I found myself having to do something ....I would use mineral oil.

I learn from the mistakes of others who take my advice.

Why do you need to wash them??

Country oriented nerd with primary interests in alternate energy in particular solar. Dabble in gardening, trees, cob, soil building and a host of others.

If they are dirty, I just wipe them with a dry cloth and then into the lime water. If you are very concerned, maybe look into other ways to preserve them, like freezing, coating with oil or ash. There are many options.

They'll store perfectly for several months if you don't wash them. So would it possible to resist washing them before storage, and only wash them before use? Like you don't peel root vegetables or cut off much of the ends before storage. You do that before use.

I don't normally but I just heard that when you put them in the lime water that they need to be clean.
